SYMPTOM Workstation is booted to NETX - and the Client install v1.21 is run to upgrade the client to the 1.20 VLMs. The client is running a shared copy of Windows with the personal directory located on the NetWare server. When you enter the path (ie. f:\users\bander\windows) to the personal Windows directory when prompted (Enter MS Windows directory) the error of "An invalid drive was given in path" is returned. If you input a path that is on the w/s local hard drive (ie c:\windows) install accepts the path and installs the files. SOLUTION This is a problem with the 1.21 Install that ships with NetWare 4.10 and the 1.20 client kit. The problem will be corrected in the next release of the Client Kit. The current workaround is to create a boot diskette and boot the w/s to the VLMs - then run install - when the w/s is booted to the VLMs - Install accepts the network path to the personal Windows directory when the w/s is booted to the VLMs. Or run the NetWare client install once - saying no to install Windows support. This will install the VLMs, then reboot the machine and run Install for a second time - this saying yes to install Windows support. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Any trademarks referenced in this document are the property of their respective owners.
