AUTHOR/HACKER ;-) ------------- Brian Gorrell - bgorrell@radix.net DESCRIPTION ----------- The included SLIPPMLO.EXE, SLIPPMHI.EXE, and SLIPPMUH.EXE are modified versions of the "Dial Other Internet Providers" application (revision 1.16). The only change is that I have "cleaned up" the interface. Specifically: - Aligned the "Status" section with the other sections in the dialog. - Changed the font of the "Status" window to 11 point System VIO. - Fixed the alignment of the "Login ID" and "Description" headers. - Widened the "Dial Prefix" field. - Changed the font of "Dial", "Add Entry", "Modify Entry", "Remove Entry", "Dial Prefix", "Time Online", and "Total Time Online" text to a small point size Helv. - Added a space before and after the "Status" and "Current Connection" titles. This is so the borders don't run right into the title. - Moved "Time Online" and "Total Time Online" information to span the bottom of the "Current Connection" section. - Changed colors of "Time Online" information to green on black. This makes this information stand out. INSTALLATION ------------ 1. Make a backup copy of SLIPPM.EXE from your \TCPIP\BIN directory. 2. Copy either SLIPPMLO.EXE (for resolutions below 1024x768), SLIPPMHI.EXE (for 1024x768), or SLIPPMUH.EXE (for resolutions above 1024x768) as SLIPPM.EXE from this package to your \TCPIP\BIN directory. DISCLAIMER ---------- Use of this program is at your own risk. You will certainly not be supported by IBM. If you run into any problem, switch back to your backup copy of SLIPPM.EXE (you did make a backup, right?). I will not be held liable for any damage resulting in the use of this application. With that said, I can see no way that this modified version will cause any problem with functionality of the program. ACKNOWLEDGMENT -------------- I used the free Resource Manager package from Martin Lafaix to extract the dialog and IBM's Dialog Editor to make the changes. RESTRICTIONS ------------ - The Name, Login ID, and Description listbox headers do not line up with the contents of the listbox if a small font/icon patch is used. Several additional versions of the EXE would be required to resolve this. At this time, I am not planning to create these. This mis-alignment exists with or without my changes. However, the rest of the dialog looks better with my changes. NOTE: If you have a small font patch applied, you may need to use SLIPPMLO.EXE even if running at 1024x768 or above. HISTORY ------- 07/16/96 - Fixed overlapping connect time information in SLIPPMLO.EXE. 07/15/96 - Fixed small (3 pixel) mis-alignment of "Current Connection" border. 06/29/96 - The changes were only noticable in low resolutions. To resolve this, I now include three EXEs: SLIPPMLO.EXE is for < 1024x768 resolution. SLIPPMHI.EXE is for = 1024x768 resolution. SLIPPMUH.EXE is for > 1024x768 resolution.
