Paste the full path in the Website Name box and then either hit the tab key, or click on the box. 2. Create subdirectories. If the subdirectory named in the D/L name does not exist, WebFetch will ask if you want to create the directory. 3. Allow multiple downloades through command files. WebFetch allows three different ways to "automatically" download one or more webpages at a time. (a) Command Line (one item): From the command line (Run menu, or as an item in a group) you call Webfetch with parameters that identify the full http path of the webpage or file, where to save it on your hard drive, and four optional parameters : run as an icon, D/L referenced graphics, Strip HTTP headers, and Skip or Overwrite existing files (the last four work similarly as the options on the WebFetch main screen). ex: webfetch -igoks http://www.yahoo.htm/ c:\temp\yahoo.htm Where the options -i(icon only), -g(D/L graphics), -o (overwrite existing files), -k (skip existing files), and -s (Strip HTTP headers) are optional, but the full URL name and DOS filename are required. (b) Command Line (batch file) : From the command line you can pass the name of a "command" file that is a text file containing parameters in the same format as above, with one job per line. ex : webfetch /f weblog.txt Where the /f parameter tells WebFetch to open and read the contents of the weblog.txt file and execute each line separately. example of file contents : -igos http://www.yahoo.htm/ c:\temp\yahoo.htm -igs http://www.cnet.com/Content/Techno/ c:\temp\tech.htm (c) From WebFetch, you click on the "Auto Req..." and choose the command file to run automatically. It has the same format as in the previous section. 4. Saves a record of downloaded files. WebFetch saves a record of every file it downloads in a file named "weblog.txt". The format is the same as the command file mentioned in 3. To configure WebFetch to log the download of webpages or graphics files (the default is both), go to the configuration screen, and click on the Advanced Configuration option. Under "File Logger Information", check which items you want saved to the logfile. When done, click on the Main Screen Configuration and click the Save button. The settings are now made permanent. If you just want the changes for that session, then click on the Set Button instead of the Save button. 5. Load, edit and save command files. To take advantage of the online editor, click on the "c" button to bring up the configuration screen. Select Filelogger Options and it will bring the filelogger configuration screen which includes an online editor. You can create, load, save, and edit command files to use in the auto or batch mode. 6. Using with a proxy server. To configure for a proxy server, go to the configuration screen and click on the Advanced Communication option. Under "Proxy Server Information", make sure the Proxy Server Active box is checked, and fill in the values for the proxy server port and Name(URL Address). Click on the Main Screen Configuration and click on the save button. WebFetch is now configured to use that proxy server and port for every download. 7. Using with a password protected page. To enable a user/password pair, go to the configuration screen and click on the Advanced Communication option. Under "Authorization", check the Enable Password box, enter a name and password, and then click on the Authorize button. WebFetch will use that name and password for as long as the Enable Pasword box stays checked. If you want WebFetch to save that name/password pair to a file and use it each time it starts, check the Save Authentication box. In any case, click on the Main Screen Configuration and press Save or Set to save values. 8. Set which webbrowser WebFetch mimics. Some webservers will deliver different graphic or text content based which webbrowser you are using (www.yahoo.com and www.msn.com are just such examples). You can currently configure to "mimic" or convince the website that you are either Netscape or Microsoft's Internet Explorer (MSIE). Other webbrowsers may be be added in the future. To configure this option, go to the Advanced Communication option on the configuration screen. Under "Webbrowser Spoofing", click on either the Netscape of MSIE(Microsoft) option. Then click on the Main Screen Configuration at the top and click on either the set or save button. 9. Resizing and customizing WebFetch interface. For some circumstances, the width of the fields in WebFetch's main screen are not wide enough to see the entire pathname. You have two options, you can resize the main screen and the fields will grow or shrink according to the change in the overall size of the main screen. Or, the three "Status" fields at the bottom : Connection, File Name and Download status you can configure to show either the beginning or end of the pathname. To configure, position your mouse over the field, and click once with your >>right<< mouse button. Clicking again will switch it back. 10. Option to save filenames with or without complete pathname. To configure WebFetch to save with full pathnames, go to the configuration screen, and click on the Advanced Configuration option. Under the Download Options is the checkbox to apply full pathnames. Once you have made your choice, click on the Main Screen Configuration and click on either Set or Save. The default is to save only partial pathnames. 11. To access the built-in help. Click on the ? button on the main screen. You will see a new screen with the following functions: Help screen with three options : Version History, Features, Readme - and yes, before you ask, these contain the same info as the files of the same name. Network Status Screen - Lets you know if you do have a good network connection. If you are using Compuserve and find the connection has dropped, it will tell that in this window. Force Winsock Connection - useful when another program (like Compuserve's dialer) knocks WebFetch off. By pressing this, WF tries to re-establish a network/Winsock connection. And a scrolling advertisement at the bottom. You can this stop the scrolling by double-clicking on the text. Close button - what else?
