***************************** CARS96JP V1.1 ******************************* Hello Indycar 2 Racing fans, and welcome to the 1996 IndyCar Season! To install this carset, go to the ICR2\CARS directory and make a NEW directory called CARS96JP. DO NOT DELETE the original CARS95 directory and files that come with Indycar2! Copy the CARS96JP.ZIP file into the new ICR2\CARS\CARS96JP directory. Unzip the CARS96JP.ZIP file (PKUNZIP CARS96JP.ZIP), which will give you the following files; READ96V1.TXT(this file!), DRIVERS.TXT, DRIVERS2.TXT and CARS96JP.DAT. Start up Indycar 2 and from the main menu select the DRIVER INFO option. Now select CAR SETS and pick the CARS96JP file. That's all there is to it! Remember that the .DAT file must match the directory it's stored in. If you want to rename the directory, you will have to rename the file CARS96JP.DAT the EXACT same name as the new directory. HAVE FUN! ***************************************************************************** This is version 1.1 of my 1996 carset. It includes all of the new team changes that occurred during the 'off-season', as well as sponsorship, engine, chassis and number changes for all of the drivers with minor modifications from the original V1.0. Some cars may not be completely accurate at this time due to lack of information or photos. Any inaccuracies will be changed in future versions of this carset, so stay tuned! This set was released 'early' so all of you could be up to date with the many changes that have taken place since last year. I know some cars are not completely accurate but I haven't spent much time on this yet and it will get better. Of special note are #7 Eliseo Salazar and the #14 car owned by A.J. Foyt. Eliseo was included because he will be back once he is fully recovered from his crash at the Disney race (*RL!) in his old Cristal car, and the #14 fills the last spot because A.J may still field a car this year and as yet is still undetermined.(CART vs. *RL disputes, lawsuits etc.) Besides, I ran out of spots to fill for this years season! The cars that are using the Toyota engine and the Eagle Mark V chassis this year were substituted with the Honda and Lola respectively. However, in the Driver Info screen you will see under their nick name the following; MKV/TOYOTA. Since the Drivers.txt or Drivers2.txt files don't allow modification of the chassis or engines, that's about all we can do for now. I've left the ratings pretty much the as V1.2 of my Cars95 set with minor modifications. Most people will want to change them based on their personal preference anyways. A few of the rookies are rated below average FOR NOW until after a few races are completed and they can be assessed more accuratly. I've left the MAX number at 562 which is what PAPARUS had set in their original drivers2.txt file. The program seems to put more importance into the traction ratings than the power ratings, so as a result the back markers have relatively even power compared to the rest of the pack, but their traction ratings are considerably lower. Feel free to change them to your liking. If you find the field too slow (or fast) it may be easier just adjusting the OPPS level within the Indycar2 Realism menu. Special thanks go to Marc 'L8BRKR' Nelson (103247,422) for his Paintkit Indexing Tool and his original TOYOTA/MKV car #36 which I modified to include Toyota's new sponsor, Castrol for cars 36 and 98. Feel free to upload this carset to other ON-Line services or local BBS's, but please upload AS IS in it's original form. If any of these cars are used in another carset for uploading, I would appreciate it if my name was included in the credits. I can guarantee that by the end of the IndyCar season, this will NOT be the best carset available. I'm just a big CART fan who couldn't wait for an updated set to come out, so I did one myself. I just wish I had more time to detail the cars to my liking! I'm sure this will be one of the first 96 carsets available for Indycar2....I hope you like it. HAVE FUN!
