Hi there folks. I just thought that i'd continue the trend of 'spooky' stories with one of my own. There is, as you know, a stately home called Hampton Court Palace, famous for it's hedge maze, and the fact that it almost burned down a few years back. As with any 'old' manor house, it is said to have many hauntings, however none quite as nasty as the child in the lake. In around 1887, the nanny for a visiting noble familly, was taking her ward, a boy of three, for a walk around the grounds. She settled herself down to read. She looked up when she heard some splashing and shouting, and to her horror, she saw that the child had drowned in the lake. Cut forwards to 1927. A young couple were visiting the palace with their small child (also around three, I believe). The child ran off towards the ducks and swans that were floating on the water, and her parents watched her go. They were still watching when their little girl ran straight into the lake without slowing down, and sank like a stone. She too was unable to be saved. And finally, the last known occurance of this case, happened in 1967 (spot a pattern here?). A single mother was walking her son (aged 4) around for the day. He too ran off in the direction of the lake, and fell in. This time however, a man managed to get to the child in time, and drag him out. When asked why he had run into the lake, his response was 'to play with the other children....'
