INNER DEMONS Shareware Version (C) 1996 Michael Zerbo - Instructions Introduction: Inner Demons is a text/graphics adventure in which the player is put into the mind of a madman. You must overcome the demons that haunt your life or succumb to them. This game includes some violent descriptions, which may not be suitable for children. To start the game, simply enter the command, Demons, from your Dos prompt. You may also play from Windows. This game is a smaller PC version of an original amiga adventure I had written. If you have an amiga, you may download a copy of the game from most aminet sites. This PC version is more of a 'mini-adventure', but still includes the look and style of the original game. This game is aimed towards the beginning level player, and uses a simple, easy to use, parser system. The game will accept small sentences, such as Take the rope or Use the key. To make the game easier, a menu of common commands and keystroke shortcuts are used. The important objects in the game are preceded with the term, Visible Objects: These visible objects, and objects in your inventory, are the only items that the player need concern himself with. Menu Commands: The game displayes a menu at the bottom of the text output. Simply choose an option and enter the keystrokes which represents a command. Press ENTER after choosing your command. Each of the directions are represented by N, S, E, W, U, and D. (G)et: this command will pick up any visible items. Keep in mind, not all objects may be picked up. In certain cases, you may need to carry out certain actions before being allowed to pick up an object. (H)it: this command will have you hit an object. (I)nventory: this shows what objects the player is currently holding. E(x)amine: allows the player to view a visible object in more detail. (Us)e: this command will allow the player to use an object that is either in his/her inventory, or is visible at that location. Ex: 'Us candle'. The use command can have a number of functions, such as giving or dropping an object, determined by the current situation. (L)ook: will repeat the text description of the current location. (R)estore: will load up a saved game. Sa(v)e: will save the game at its current spot. (Q)uit: will exit the game. If the user selects an option and nothing happens, that means that the command has no use in that situation. The user does not need to type in complete commands, as the system is designed to use the keystroke shortcuts. This system allows the user an easier time in choosing the correct command choices. Each location will have a text description and usually a graphics screen. Once the graphics load in, the user can return to the text screen by pressing the space bar. This game may be distributed for non-commercial purposes only. It may be included on CDROMS, but I would appreciate it if I would be contacted beforehand.
