Program: VBSystem Resource Monitor (VBSys and VBSysBar) Version: 3.2 (Shareware) Author: Michael Krane Date: July 24, 1996 IMPORTANT NOTE: This program like all Visual Basic 32 bit programs requires that you already have the vb40032.dll basic runtime files PRIOR to running this program, (It's actually 4 files). They should be placed in your Windows\System dircetory. If you don't already have them, you can find them many places online or you can download them directly from my FTP site at: ftp://users.aol.com/miklk/vb40032.zip or through the Web page http://users.aol.com/miklk Please Register to be able to SAVE your settings and to keep Shareware going. HISTORY: Version 3.2 Fix of one minor bug only. Version 3.01 This is the first public release of the full 32 bit version for Win 95 ONLY. This is a complete rewrite of the Windows 3.1x version of VBSys. Main Differences from the 16 Bit version: The Graph is CPU usage. All memory info is completely different because 32 Bit is completely different. The 3D buttons are different: There was too much memory being used by the custom controls that gave the 3D and opened the common dialogs. That is why I rewrote the functions of those controls directly into the program itself. The .exe files are bigger: Yes but not by much. The files are bigger but the 2 common control files that I mentioned above and the vbsys.dll are no longer needed and the replacement code is built into the program. VBSys will run fine with no external support files now except the VB4 runtimes. Also, being fully 32 bit does increase the size of a few things a little. There are many new features: Screen Saver Activate, BackGround Colors, SetUp Program, UnInstall, File Management is enhanced, Memory display is enhanced, ShortCut keys are no longer need: Left Click for the main function and Right Click for the properties, Many other enhancements and changes. Is VBSys completely 32 Bit: VBSys is completely 32 Bit. I decided to keep VBSys completely 32 Bit on the main display that is always running so it wouldn't be affected by 16 bit problems or limitations. The only 16 bit function I use is on the More Info Window: Many people still like to see the Old 16 Bit Free System Resources so I left it in there for the people that want it. It will only call the 16 bit function when that Window is Open. (The old 16 Bit Free System Resources no longer exists in 32 Bit or has much use under Win 95.) Since VBSys is self contained, what are the other files that are installed in my Windows\System directory? There are 3 files that are installed in addition to the 2 program files and the help file; The first one is stkit432.dll; This file is used by the Setup and Uninstall program; Since it was there anyway, I decided to use it to Add/Remove ShortCuts. The other 2 files are to call the 16 Bit FSR as described above; These 2 files come with Windows 95 so everyone already has them. I included them in case you don't have them currently installed. (None of these files are required for VBSys to run but those functions that they support will not be available if they are deleted.) Future releases: There is really nothing PLANNED at this time, but I may add more things later if I feel it will improve it. I am always looking for ways to optimize or improve it.
