This is a Database File that allows the users to determine their daily intake of Protein, Calories, Fats, Cholesterol, etc. 2. "DIETPLAN" is written using Microsoft "ACCESS 1.1" Database software. It is suggested that you use Microsoft "ACCESS 1.1" Database software with the DIETPLAN.MDB file. 3. "DIETPLAN" is Easy To Use, Easy To Update and Easy To Print. 4. Every effort has been made to ensure that the information contained in this Database is accurate. HOWEVER, YOU USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. YOU AGREE NOT TO HOLD ME OR ANYONE ELSE LIBEL FOR ANYTHING THAT MAY OCCUR, INCLUDING HEALTH PROBLEMS, AS A RESULT OF YOUR USING THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THE FILES "README.1ST", "INFO.TXT" AND/OR THE "FOODLIST.MDB". However, you should know that I use "DIETPLAN" for my own menu planning. ***** MAKE COPIES OF THE THREE "DIETPLAN" FILES NOW !!!! ***** 5. Put the three files (README.1ST, INFO.TXT and FOODLIST.MDB) into your Microsoft "ACCESS 1.1" directory. You may want to create a Sub-Directory (DIETPLAN, etc.) to put the files into. Start your Microsoft "Windows 3.1" and Microsoft "ACCESS 1.1". 6. To use "DIETPLAN": A. OPEN the DIETPLAN Database File by Clicking on FOODLIST.MDB. B. OPEN the DIETPLAN TABLE. a. Put an X or x (Upper or Lower Case "x") in the "X" Column Opposite All The Food Items that you will Eat For One Day. C. CLOSE the TABLE when you have marked all of the Food Items. D. OPEN the DIETPLAN QUERY. a. Make sure that All of the Food Items You Will Eat for One Day Are Listed in the QUERY. E. CLOSE the QUERY. F. OPEN the DIETPLAN REPORT. (Press ENTER or Click PREVIEW) a. Make sure that the Printer is Set Up for LANDSCAPE. b. PRINT the REPORT. Letter Quality is easier to read. That is all there is to do. If you want to make changes to the database "DIETPLAN" do so by making changes in the TABLE. You can Up-Date the information, already in the Database TABLE, by typing the new information into the row that you want to change. You can Delete Food Items in the TABLE by deleting the row. You can Add New Items in the TABLE, by clicking the menu bar items RECORDS.....DATA ENTRY and enter the new item's information. Please note that the ID numbers in the far left column are to allow food items to appear in their proper group. You can reassign ID if you wish. To Add a New Food Item use 3 numbers, if necessary, instead of 2 to the ID to locate the new item in its proper place, as I have done. You can change any of the Titles in the DIETPLAN REPORT, or any of the Standard/Maximum Quantities shown on the DIETPLAN REPORT, etc. You can Add New Columns to meet your specific needs. You can Hide or Delete Columns that you do not want. See your Microsoft "ACCESS 1.1" User's Guide for details. THIS IS FREEWARE. Gerald Greco (originator) I have entered over 150 possible menu items into a computer database, set up to list the items designated and give the totals of various categories (calories, protein, etc.) The final menu's totals are compared to desired amounts, and the variances are listed. A brief description of the main sources and criteria of the report are listed below. 1. The data under the column headings ("Food Description", "Serving", "Wt (gm)"......."Cholstr (mg)") came from the following sources: a. If the Food Description includes a brand name ("Kraft", etc.) most of the data came from the product's label. Items not listed on the label are from source (b) below. PLEASE NOTE: NEW LABELING LAWS in 1994 forced food labels to change. You can use these changes to ADD or UP DATE the PRODUCTS that YOU USE. b. Other printed authoritative sources were used when possible (Recent material distributed by medical groups, etc.) 2. The "Maximum Daily Amount" (M. D. A.) was based on: a. Servings and Weight (gm): No Maximum amounts. Please note that grams (gm) is the best unit of measurements to use, since you can pro-rate all other quantities based upon the weight in grams (gm). If 100 gm of XYZ = 200 Calories and 21 gm of Protein, then 200 gm of XYZ = 400 Calories and 42 gm of Protein, etc. b. Calories: Maximum is what ever the total is, up to 2,000 calories. You can change this amount, if necessary. c. Protein (gm): Maximum is what ever the total is, up to 50 gm. Note: 50 gm/day is recommended. (1 gram of Protein = 4 Calories). d. Total Fat (gm): Maximum is less than 30% of Total Calories. (Total Calories x 30% x 1 gm/9 Cal.) (1 gram of Fat = 9 Calories). e. Saturated Fat (gm): Maximum is less than 10% of Total Calories. (Total Calories x 10% x 1 gm/9 Calories). f. Mono Unsaturated Fat (gm): Maximum is less than 15% of Total Calories. (Total Calories x 15% x 1 gm/9 Calories). g. Poly Unsaturated Fat (gm): Maximum is less than 10% of Total Calories. (Total Calories x 10% x 1 gm/9 Calories). h. Carbohydrates (gm): Maximum is less than 60% of Total Calories. (Total Calories x 60% x 1 gm/4 Cal.) (1 gram of Carbo. = 4 Calories). i. Potassium [K+] (mg): Maximum is what ever the total is, up to 3,000 mg. Ignore Potassium Maximums Amounts Unless You Are On A Restricted Diet. You can change this amount, if necessary. j. Sodium [Na+] (mg): Maximum is what ever the total is, up to 2,400 mg. k. Cholesterol (mg): Maximum is 100 mg per 1,000 Calories, up to 300 mg. Please note that Herbs and Spices are NOT included, since only small amounts are consumed. The entire day's food consumption should be included in each Printed REPORT.
