                     SERIAL - See and Set Disk Serial 1.4


This utility displays and optionally sets the serial number of a disk.


USAGE:

  SERIAL [drive:] [serno]

where:  drive:       is the drive name, or the current drive if blank

        serno        is the new serial number for the drive, as an 8
                     digit hexadecimal number

Note that disks must be formatted with DOS version 4.0 or later to
contain a serial number.


EXAMPLES:

  SERIAL                         will display the serial number of the
                                 default drive

  SERIAL A:                      will display the serial number of the
                                 diskette in drive A:

  SERIAL A: 5F42-9AE4            will change the serial number of the 
                                 diskette to 5F42-9AE4

Run SERIAL with parameters "?" or "/?" to display simple help and
registration information.


REGISTRATION:

This program is part of the K-TOOLS UTILITIES shareware package.  To keep
using it after the 60 day trial period you must register, which costs only
A$15 per utility or A$29, US$24, �15, Dm40, �2600 for the whole collection.
