How to Set-up and Install: 1. Since you're reading this file, I can assume you have successfully UNZIPPED the archive. Adventurers of Renown Ruins of Able-Wyvern™(TM) [ARRA] needs specific subdirectory access though; so, please check for the following subdirec- tories. /data - in which all raw game information is stored. /docs - in which various user information is stored. /menu - in which all games screens are stored. You can create the appropriate subdirectories by unzipping the archive again with the "-d" option. All of my game modules are designed to conserve your disk space. So, you only have to create 1 directory and place all of "Steve Gose Games" in one "Root directory". (You will discover that different modules will re-use various files from other games.) Ok, ... let's proceed. 2. Now that we have a "root gaming directory" and 3 subdirectories, you should see the following wcCode programs and support files. All programs listed: Copyright ©(C) 1995, Stephen Gose. All Rights Reserved. Trade Marks displayed are property of Stephen Gose. All Rights Reserved. ARPLYER.WCX - a FREE SysOp Player Editor. Set this up using MakeMenu in an area you use as SysOp. ARRA.WCX - the main gaming module. ARRAMAIT.WCX - the daily maintenance program. Use this to reset timers and counters for the players each day. This program will restore health and raise up dead player characters. Please run this from the Event Management screen of your SysOp Menu as a "HARD" scheduled event. ARRA.LST - a list of your BBS Users who have accessed ARRA. You can insert Names into this list of those who like this type of gaming. This list is used to create announcements, and a very small bulletin for players only. File_id.diz - a short description for your file database. ARRA.KEY - a generic Shareware key. Once you've registered, overwrite this KEY with your personally assigned KEY. ARSetUp.EXE - a FREE Multi-purpose installation program. You can install any of the Adventurers of Renown(TM) modules using this shareware program. A "Deluxe" edition of this program is coming. 3. Run ARSetUp.EXE. You will see 10 buttons which will configure the game in 10 steps. It's best if you set up the game's configure by following the steps in numerical sequence. After completing all 10 steps, select "File" at the top of the window, and select "Exit". A configuration file will be created for you with all the information you selected. Set up should take no more than 3 or 4 minutes (depending if you read all the HELP screens. Some are entertaining, or at least I think so ;) Check your "Root gaming directory" for the "ARRA.CFG". This is a simple text file; you can read or modify its contents with a text editor. The "HELP" windows should answer many of your questions or provide advice and information. I've found that SysOps ask about the "Amount" window. DO NOT use decimal places when entering CASH amounts. Enter all CASH amounts as if you were entering the CASH Charges in "pennies". 4. Last Step! Go to MakeMenu and create Menu entries for these WCX programs. and then go to your SysOp menu and set up the ARRAMAIT.WCX program to run at least once a day from your "Event Management". ** Please run the ARRAMAIT.WCX as a "HARD" scheduled event and as a WCX program. Running the ARRAMAIT.WCX in a Batch file or WcPro script might result in a "hung" process. ** You generic KEY will not expire, there's no limit (within reason) for you to try out this program on your BBS. However, I noticed that once players start playing, THEY ARE HOOKED! This is a VERY ADDICTIVE GAME. You'll find that if you have set a reasonable amount to charge your Users, you WILL GET what you asked for.
