The data files contained within parish.zip are for use with Microsoft Access database and give the user the ability to locate all parishes within a specified distance of a named parish anywhere within the UK.

To use the query copy the files to your hard drive where Access is located and load the datafile. The query will run automatically and will prompt for the name of  the parish upon which a search is to be made. After entering this name a list will be seen from which the parish reference number can then be entered to perform the search query.

All parishes contained in the database within the specified distance will then be listed in distance order.

This data is freeware and may be used or passed on by anyone providing this text file is also included. The data has been prepared in the ongoing work on the Lawson One Name Study by Terry Lawson of Sussex FHS and myself and additional work has been performed by Derek Boys, Doncaster, who converted the data to MS Access format.

In making this utility freely available it is hoped that many more family historians will gain the benefits of being able to locate parishes easily.
