By Ted Pirro Show Review Columnist Casino.sho Magazine I can see where Merv got the name for this one. He had a lot of fun putting this together and it shows. I was reminded of the variety shows that aired on TV back in the 50'S. Shows like Ed Sullivan or what you might see on The Steve Allen Show. It's nice to see a show that the whole family can enjoy. "Funderful" begins with a spectacular production number "I Feel A Show Coming On", that makes you feel like your watching one of those great old movie musicals they used to make. The cast, some of which were veterans of "Wahoo Baby!", Merv's last musical extravaganza, danced superbly and really should be commended for their hard work. Much of the success for the dance numbers (after the cast of course) has to go to Gina Capecci and the "Funderful" job she did as Choreographer of the show. Other dance numbers were "The Oasis" where the cast performed to a medley of "Midnight At The Oasis" and "The Sheik Of Arabi". Robert W. Rang fabulously designed all the stage sets that were used. The sets lit up, went up, went down, went back and forth, side to side and did every thing but fly around the Superstar Theatre. Lucio Boliver was responsible for the magnificent and unusual costumes. "Funderful" delivers what it promises. *Editor's Note: Lonnie Shorr becomes the show's host beginning December 16 replacing Marty Brill. Hillel, Mr. Balloon Man, replaces the specialty act, Derique as "Livewire." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |RESORTS CASINO HOTEL | | 1133 Boardwalk ..........609-344-6000 | | Box Office ............609-340-6830 | | Hotel Rooms ...........609-340-6000 | | Restaurants ...........609-340-6000 | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
