SPECTACULAR CAROUSEL ROOM FOR HIGH-LEVEL

SLOTS PLAY OPENS AT SHOWBOAT CASINO-HOTEL


Atlantic City, NJ --- The Carousel Room, the spectacular new way of playing
high-end slot machines, made its debut at Showboat Casino-Hotel.

The gaming parlor features Carousel Slots, more than 200 state-of-the-art
slot machines with denominations including $1, $5, $25 and $100, plus
Showboat's all new $2 and $10 denomination machines.

At the centerpiece of the gaming parlor is a beautiful multi-colored horse,
measuring 16 feet high. The carousel sculpture symbolizes the festive and
exciting atmosphere of the Carousel Room.

The Carousel horse, with gold leaf saddle and gold leaf tail, was
specially commissioned by Showboat at a cost of $50,000 from the Kern
Sculpture Company of New Orleans, which has designed floats for the Mardi
Gras Parade, sculptures and icons for the Disney theme parks, MGM Grand
Casino in Las Vegas and for parks, museums and casinos around the world.

It took six artists --  sculptors and craftsmen -- more than two months to
create the Showboat carousel from the preliminary sketch into the finished
fiberglass statue.

To enhance the slot action of Carousel Slots, are 14 linked "quick hit"
$1 progressive machines, beginning with a minimum jackpot of $2,500.

The new gaming parlor is located in the area formerly called Jake's Betting
Parlor, just across Bourbon Street Corridor from the main casino floor.

"The new Carousel Room is open and easily accessible, yet private enough to 
insure the very best playing conditions," said Herbert Wolfe, executive
vice president and chief operating officer of Showboat Casino-Hotel.

He emphasized that the change-over will not affect the other popular gaming
options available there. The Keno and poker parlors and the horse racing
simulcasting center remain in the same locations.

"The entire parlor will have wider aisles, more comfortable seating, bill
changers, its own coin redemption center, a host desk and the impeccable,
friendly service that is the hallmark of Showboat Casino-Hotel," Mr.
Wolfe said.

"Showboat's Carousel Room is for the dedicated player who seeks a higher
level of slot action and the ultimate in service and comfort."

In addition to the machines in the Carousel Room, Showboat has over
3,000 slot machines offering greater variety and excitment in it's
95,000 square foot of gaming space, the second largest in Atlantic City.

POKER PLAYERS DISCOVER RICHEST POKER TOURNAMENT

AT SHOWBOAT CASINO-HOTEL ON COLUMBUS DAY


Atlantic City, NJ --- Poker players can celebrate Columbus day by making 
their own exciting discovery -- the richest poker tournament yet held in 
Atlantic City.

The tournament* will be hosted by Showboat Casino-Hotel on the evening of 
October 12 in the poker parlor located in the Carousel Room.

The prize money will total $80,000 based on 80 entries, each requiring a 
$1,000 buy-in, plus an entry fee of $65. All of the buy-in monies will be 
returned as prizes. The tournament will be limited to the first 80 players 
registered.

The format will be seven-card high stud, with ongoing elimination.

The final eight players will recieve cash prizes. The top winner will receive 
$32,000, and the other seven prizes, in descending order, will be: $18,400; 
$9,600; $5,600; $4,800; $4,000; $3,200; and $2,400.

The tournament begins at 6:00 p.m., and each player is given $1,500 in 
tournament chips.
