PillarSoft Enhanced E & Enhanced EE Editors Beta v.11 Readme 様様様様様様様様様様様様様様様様 You must have Rexx installed to run this program. Rexx is normally part of the default installation of OS/2. If Rexx is not installed you must go to Selective Install and install support for it there. If you haven't done so already unzip the archive in any directory and run "install". You may install to the directory you started the install operation from or key in a new directory to install this program to. The install program will create the directory (1 deep) if needed. 様様様様様様様様様様様様様様様様 Comments: Always check on http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/3512 for the latest version. They come quite often this early in the beta cycle. I try to keep Hobbes (ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu) /incoming or /os2/editors up to date also. The filename will always be "pseee**.zip" where the "**" is a number denoting the version (higher number = more recent version) The install routine now gives you a choice of default editors. This item is disabled unless you bypass it at the command line. At this point it only works if the OS/2 System Editor is the only editor on the system. DO NOT use it if your text files have other associations attached to them! There is a neat utility by Henk Kelder called "assoed03.zip" at my site or on Hobbes in "/os2/editors' that will do the job nicely. I had the Object Desktop Data Object also and while the default change didn't work right away, it did eventually. There are some data files that don't seem to "take" to a different default editor without changing them individually, I am studying this. The default change worked fine on my other machine with only the "E" System Editor on it but I can make no garantees. It is not fool proof yet so avoid it and use "assoed03.zip" unless you have alot of guts and are good at fixing messes. BE WARNED! It may negatively affect your system. If you try this please let me know if it works one way or the other. The install program parameter to make it work is "def". example - install def REMEMBER, the safest way to make the Enhanced E or Enhanced EE the default editor for the time being is to use Henk Kelders "Association Editor". It is 40k and available on Hobbes "/editors/assoed03.zip" or on my website. The nag screen is gone now but this version of the EEE.EXE still expires March 31, 1997. The EE.EXE has no expiration and will live forever... I Hope! Still haven't fixed the File History comboboxes' ability to save it's own font. Check the General Help for a manual fix for this. Search for keyword "cfont". Multiple language support is in the works now. If you want to do a translation to your native tongue for the menues, download the translation template from the PillarSoft Site. If you find problems PLEASE email me so I can address them. Some I may know about but there are bound to be others I don't know about. For example, I thought the print routines were fine, in fact, GREAT until I installed it on my other computer that doesn't have any printers setup yet and it choked trying to find printers. It was an easy fix but had to be fixed nonetheless. (yeah, right... I had to work that over a little more after I thought it was fixed. I think it's fixed now ). 様様様様様様様様様様様様様様様様 Trouble? Is there a dot as the first entry of your LIBPATH statement in the config.sys? example - LIBPATH=.;C:\OS2; This tells OS/2 to check the home directory first. If things aren't working right try running install from the editors' home directory and choose "uninstall" then run install again and choose "update" or "new install". The DLL files can be moved to the \os2\dll directory or to a directory that you have setup in your path for "user.dll's" if you prefer. 様様様様様様様様様様様様様様様様 PillarSoft PO Box #1403 Jamestown, ND 58402 Fax: 1(701)252-5543 email: Psoft@Tech-Center.com http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/3512/psoft.html
