This is the release notes for the Win32 release of WiSP. The Win32 version is usable with Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0. If you intend to upgrade to this version of WiSP, then you will need a new registration number from AMSAT. Due to the large amount of time that has been spent on upgrading WiSP, there will be a small charge for this. You should contact AMSAT to upgrade, giving your callsign and your existing registration number. If you are already registered for the Win3.1 version of WiSP, then this version will work fine for 30 days after which time the unregistered messages will be displayed again. The install program will copy over any existing files that you have if you elect to install into an existing directory. The install program will copy files to your hard disk from a floppy and will make changes to your system registry to allow WiSP to be fully integrated into the operating system. The install program is limited in that it presently only searches your C: drive for files. Also, it does not create a WISP group on your desktop. This installation program does NOT preserve any of your current settings from previous versions of WiSP. Everything must be set up again. (Sorry!). WiSP now uses the registry for saving setup information and NOT the WISP.INI file. If you were in the habit of editing the WISP.INI file, nows the time to break the habit because it won't work any more. Note that the following files have been renamed for this release of WiSP -: PM-ERR.LOG to "ProcMail Error Log.TXT" MSPE.TNC to "MSPE TNC Startup.TXT" MSPE.EQN to "MSPE Equations.TXT" VIEW-DIR.EQN to "View-Dir Equations.TXT" There is also a new file called "MSPE TNC Exit.TXT" which is a list of commands sent to the TNC when MSPE closes. Message files received from the spacecraft now use the extension .DLM (for Downloaded Message). This is to avoid conflict with Microsoft Exchange which also uses the .MSG extension. A PFH file is also created which is used by MsgView to provide information on the message. These files can be automatically deleted using GSC so you don't have to delete them yourself. I know that the help file is in desperate need up an upgrade. I hope to get this sorted out soon. (Honestly!). Enjoy, Chris Jackson G7UPN / ZL2TPO ADDITIONAL NOTES: 1. In the GSC window, Setup | Station Setup | Rotator Tab, there is a Setup button. This button is intended to be used in a future GSC update to configure RR.INI for the Kansas City Tracker (KCT). DO NOT use this button to configure RR.INI in this version of GSC. It is not operational yet. Instead use the SATDEMO program to do the KCT configuration for radio and rotor control. 2. In the RR.INI file there is a user settable parameter, "PreCommandPacing." If you have difficulty with control of your radio mode, frequency, etc. try adjusting this parameter. Read the information about this parameter in the RR.INI file. 73, Roy -- W0SL
