Frequently Asked Questions

I. Graphics aren't being displayed correctly!
AdQuedit must be run in a video mode with more than 256 colors
or the palette will not be happy. If that isn't your problem make sure
you are using the correct palette.

II. How do I insert one of my edited file into the pak file?
There isn't any reason to use the pak files outside of
distribution. Quake can read the files in the pak from
the proper directories if the pak files do not exist.
I suggest that you do your editing with unpacked files.
You can pack a directory by using the create pack option
    in the menu.

A major reason not to use the pak files for editing purposes
is their size, whenever a change would be made to the pak
file, the pak file would have to be rebuilt. Shuffling around
18 or 33 megs isn't exactly fax or anything.
II B. What about Quakeworld?
For some reason Quakeworld only reads the files
if they are in the pak files. I'm hoping this requirement
is just a bug and will be fixed. However, if that is not the
case, I'll be putting some enhanced pak features into
    AdQuedit sometime.

III. What the hell does the name 'AdQuedit' stand for?
I had originally intended to call my program the Adequate
Quake Editor, but when I checked with Id Software about
whether or not I could release a shareware editor, one of
the restrictions was that I couldn't monopolize on the name
'Quake'. It couldn't be in the title, but could be in the subtitle.
    Hence: ADequate QUake EDITor
    AdQuedit: The Quake Editing Workstation
