AdeptXBBS Version 1.09.42 (VAC) Release

This is to announce the VAC compiled release of the AdeptXBBS.

This is a 24 node build, at par with the "Hagar" current build
1.09.47 without the file caching.

This release can be ftp'd from snoval.com or from
http://www.comland.com/~bkirby

In all probablitiy it might be made available on IRC as well as
from other Adept related pages.

There are a few differences in the Hagar (Watcom) and this (VAC)
builds. The details are documented the ReadMe.

The VAC archive contains the fixed/enhanced FileEd and BFSMake.

Some differences between the Hagar and VAC builds:

1. VAC build supports both menu styles in a PnP fashion :)
   It will auto-detect the menu type on the first login and
   automatically switch if required.

2. Corrects file area list and download permission checks.

3. Includes my DOS Door Runner as part of Adept now.
   (menu types 820/821)

4. Includes 2 new menu options.

5. Lots of bug fixes and mem leaks stopped (hopefully :))

6. As it stands (the defaults i set now) takes less than half
   the memory it used to per node and an overall reduction of
   resources used by Adept. Let's see if this works for most
   SysOps. It can be altered from the command line if req as
   documented in the readme of the VAC archive.

7. A fair bit of internal code changes from the original.

Last but not the least, my thanks to the developers of Adept who allowed
us to continue the fixing and development of AdeptXBBS and to Mario, who
made the first, real, usable build of Adept in a looong time :) and all
those on IRC (dutch, dougk, Alt, GrKnight, mattis, Trixter...too many to
name here) who have been extremely helpful and supportive.

...and...of course, all of us SysOps who continue to use Adept :)
