TIM'S TOP 10 OS/2 INTERNET SITES*
As we all know, OS/2 CONNECT
contains the most comprehensive set of Internet addresses related to OS/2. Since the
list was first published in April 1995, the list has grown and evolved over time. Despite
the robustness of the list, I'm regularly asked what Internet sites are the most important
to support the product and stay abreast of developments. I've done a lot of soul searching
in this regard and hereby render what I feel are the most important "must have" OS/2 sites on
the Internet. It is not my intention to offend anyone by omitting their sites from the
list. I have just found the following Internet sites to be invaluable in terms of staying
on top of OS/2. My reasons for selecting the various sites are explained in the list which,
by the way, is not in any particular order (e.g, #1, #2, etc.). I hope you find the following
sites useful.

- OS/2 News & Announcements (comp.os.os2.announce) -
this is the single most important source of credible OS/2 news and announcements
in the Usenet Newsgroups - NNTP, primarily because it is fairly and consistently
moderated by Mick Brown.
- Kevin Royalty's Master OS/2 Warp Update List
(http://www.cincyteamos2.org/masterupdate.html) -
Kevin, who is a member of Team OS/2 Cincinnati, has done the OS/2 community a
great service by providing a single source for locating all product updates and
revisions pertaining to OS/2.
- The Best of OS/2 "Newswire"
(http://www.aescon.com/bestofos2/msgs/msgs.htm) -
is sponsored by InnoVal Systems Solutions Inc. and
represents the best Web site to distribute and research OS/2 news and announcements.
- IBM's OS/2 Warp Home
Page - is still worth following even though it is infrequently updated. It
includes pertinent news and convenient links to other sites for product updates.
- Trevor Smith's (Editor-in-Chief) OS/2 e-Zine! -
some people will be surprised to see me list another electonic magazine on this
list, but "OS/2 e-Zine!" is a highly respected publication and is now considered
the authorative source of product reviews since other OS/2 printed publications
folded.
- The Hobbes FTP site (ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu/)
sponsored by New Mexico State University is the most popular "Anonymous" FTP
site for uploading/downloading OS/2 related files, even though it is often
overloaded and hard to access (which is due to its popularity). Be sure to check out
Hobbes' Incoming file area for the
latest submissions and its OS/2 section.
- Walnut Creek (ftp://ftp-os2.cdrom.com/pub/os2/) -
tired of waiting for Hobbes? Then in all likelihood, you'll find the files you're looking for at Walnut Creek,
another excellent "Anonymous" FTP site for OS/2 files. Also, be sure to check out their
Incoming file area for the
latest submissions.
- IBM PC Systems and Devices Compatible with OS/2
(http://www.austin.ibm.com/pspinfo/os2hw.html) -
although this site is not checked as frequently as the others, it is an important site
to research compatible hardware for OS/2.
- For OS/2 software catalogs, I couldn't settle on just one; although
Indelible Blue (
http://www.indelible-blue.com/ib) is perhaps the most popular catalog, I have always found
Jim Ames' J3 Computer Technologies (http://www.j3comp.com/)
to be very competitive.
- For OS/2 shareware products, I ran into another tie:
