WHAT'S NEW: Since the First release of QView Pro (v2.0) the following changes were made. The most recent changes are listed at the top of this list. v2.33 (Mar 12, 1997) * Update for address change. Software now reflects The new Beaverton address for Secure Design. v2.32 (Mar 4, 1996) * Changed the minimum rights QView will require to move jobs between queues. Older versions required RWCDSM, but now QView operates with just RW rights. This allows QView 2.x to work with the new Windows version 3.x that only installs RW rights in the queue dirs. The installer still grants full access, however the v3.x installer will revoke all but RW from QVIEW_OPERATORS. * Added error number descriptions to the stackdump and various dialog boxes so "error 4 opening file" now says "too many open files" This is mostly used in preference file reading and writing. * Added checking for network shell to qvinfo.exe. * Documented problem with new VLM workstation shells that come with NetWare v4.10. The new VLMs handle file opening differently for read only files, and will cause QView to fail when opening the qview.cfg file if the user has read only rights to the file. The fix is to add READ ONLY COMPATIBILITY=ON in the NETWARE DOS REQUESTOR section of your NET.CFG file. v2.31 (Feb 6, 1996) * Made changes to the preference file loading procedure to make it more tolerant of corrupted qview.cfg files. v2.30 (Sept 14, 1995) * Added support for NetWare 4.x with multiple servers in one O.U. QView requires Bindery access however it will work with NetWare 4.x. * Changed the online help file name from qview.hlp to qview.hl to help users from trying to open the file with the winhelp viewer in windows. This helpfile is only accessable with QView. * Made note of our area code change in the help file and documentation. Our area code will chage from (503) to (541) on Nov 5, 1995. A new version of QView Pro for DOS will be released shortly after that date with new phone numbers listed. * Added references to our world wide web site in the documentation. http://www.peak.org/~sdesign * Added /NM command line option to prevent users from using the configuration menus. * Added a list of servers, serial numbers, and install dates when viewing the QView Performance dialog in the main menu. (or F2) * Added an uninstall option in qvins.exe v2.24b * Corrected a bug in the re-open off line queue window procedure. The old procedure would not always re-open a window promptly. v2.24 (Jan 2, 1995) * Changed the log file date/time format so leading a leading zero is added to the numbers. The log used to report times as 11:3:34 and will now report 11:03:34. * Documented the availability of ctrl-enter to be substituted for the alt-enter command. This is useful if QView is run in a Windows dos shell. The feature was left out of the documentation. * Documented the availability of pressing CTRL-H whil in Job View screen for hex-dump view rather than plain text job view. * When placing a job on defered print, the default print time is now the current time plus 24 hours. v2.23 * Added to the overage options a feature to "delete (any)" and "delete (non active)". The delete option in previous versions was the same as the new "delete (any)". v2.22a * QView.exe now looks for its' own file name rather than just the file name "QVIEW.EXE" this should cure some problems from having multiple versions of QView on one system. * Adjusted stack size to prevent a specific problem on exit after a timed run. v2.21c (Sept 30, 1994) * Corrected the move queue job function with the VLM drivers. This was all caused by an inconsistancy in the results of the netware API function AllocateTemporaryDirectoryHandle(), which seems to map a root drive under VLMs and a full path in ODI. v2.2.0h * Corrected a bug that caused QView to interact with the shell's search mode, and would not allow jobs to be moved on some workstations. * Added PgUP and PgDN keys to scroll queue windows. * Job move progress is now shown. As data is moved, the file size of the target job is updated as progress is made. * Changed CRC procedure to use full 32bit checks. New method is slightly slower but much more accurate. * Extended file locking now used. This prevents one workstation using QView Pro from having problems when a second workstation deletes a print job. (this only caused conflicts when the workstation using QView was using the print queue file for CRC checking or print job data viewing.) v2.2.0d * Changed the CRC procedure for speed. New function is about 10 times faster. This will only be noticed on files of 1 meg or more. * Changed mouse procedure to work better on XT computers when using the double click on a menu. * Changed the new print queue picklist from a max of 80 to a max of 150 print queues. (One customer has a lot of print queues!) v2.2.0 (Feb 1, 1994) * New shareware release completed for distribution. * New order form included as "ORDER.FRM" and on the last page of the manual. The new order form also includes distributors and more shipping information. v2.1.2a * Changed version number setup to add an extra digit. * Corrected a problem with the %file size match in the delete preferences menu. * Serial number setup changed. (This version is actually a v2.2.0 beta, which has the new serial numbers. You can tell the difference between the 2.1x serial numbers and the 2.2x numbers. The 2.2x numbers all begin with QP22. * Corrected a problem with "service directory" option: Now this option will spool files from local drives (C:) and drives using Map Root. * Renamed several function calls in the Netware API library to make it more consistant with the API provided by novell. This change should not affect the operation of the program. * Added a section to the manual for "Suggested Setups". Also updated were our E-mail address, Phone and Fax numbers. v2.1g * Changed the installer to provide more information before "installing" a file server. (shows 60 demo period end) * Added a reset useage count option to the qvins.exe program to reset the counts for duplicate and moved jobs. * Added a program called QVINFO. This program takes a QView configuration file and produces a text file of all the options. * Corrected a bug that left aborted job moves on hold. (an aborted move job occurs when qview is exited before a job to be moved is done loading) * Using the ALT key while moving a job causes it to be copied insted of being moved. ALT-C has the same affect. * Corrected a bug that caused QView to abend if the 'number of copies' field for a job was greater than 255. v2.1a * Changed the default name of the QVIEW.INI to QVIEW.CFG because some sites are still using the QView v1.x and the two types of config files are not exchangable. * Fixed a bug that would prevent QView from starting up in the VGA/EGA 50/43 line mode. v2.1 (July 15, 1993) * A problem with the file spooling procedure was corrected. When a file was spooled, the form type used was form type 1. Most computers use a default of 0, so this caused the print spooler to stop and say "mount form type 1 on printer XXX." Now QView spools jobs with a form type of 0. * Typing ALT-M to move a job when no job was selected caused QView to abend. This has been corrected. * QView was not able to move jobs between queues if drives were mapped to the SYS: volumes with Map Root. This problem has been corrected. Note: If you are logged into 7-8 file servers, at least 2 drives must be free and not be mapped to any volume.
