Select PPP dialer
You have to select one of the two built-in PPP dialers. After installation, Arachne is configured to use EtherPPP dialer. If you encounter any problems when using EtherPPP, you can try to install and configure Klos PPP dialer. Once the Klos PPP dialer is installed, the EtherPPP program PPP.EXE is overwritten and if you want to use it again, you have to delete all files in Arachne directory and reinstall it.

Advantages: Can be configured using simple setup page inside Arachne. You will not have to leave Arachne user-friendly graphical enviroment when using EtherPPP. You can use external TELNET and FTP easily. Disadvantages: It requires at least 550 kB of conventional DOS memory before running Arachne, it will not redial when the connection is lost, it cannot be loaded high, it refuses to work on certain systems and it cannot be used once Klos PPP is installed.

Klos PPP is shareware utility from Klos Technologies, inc. Advantages: It requires less conventional DOS memory, it redials when the connection is lost and can be easily configured using PPPMENU utility. Resident portions (LSL.COM, PPP.EXE and IPSTUB.EXE) can be loaded to high memory (if you are advanced DOS user, try to edit file ARACHNE.BAT to do this). Disadvantages: you will not be able to use external TELNET and FTP without configuring esoteric configuration file CONFIG.TEL, the EtherPPP program will be overwritten, Klos PPP will be loaded each time you will use Arachne, it cannot be used under Windows and the system may become unstable.

Not yet implemented. OpenDOS will be shipped together with resident PPP dialer and TCP/IP stack. Arachne will be aware about this dial-up solution in future.
