After 21 days, you must license the software if you wish to continure using it. Although ResSched Multi-User will continue to work after 21 days, access wil be increasingly delayed by one second for each day since the evaluation period expired. ------------ Installation ------------------- You can install ResSched Multi-User's executable files (.exe, .dll ) and help file on a central server or on each individual user's workstation. Data files (.tps), however, must all be centrally located. A System Administrator must enter the location of the data files in System Preferences. We recommend installing executable files on individual workstations because it provides faster performance and reduces demand on your network, but this approach does requires more effort to administer upgrades and add new users. If you choose to install the executable files and help file in different directories from the data files you must change the Working Directory (Windows 3.1 or NT) or Start In property (Windows 95) of the ResSched Multi- User Program Item to reflect the location of the data files. The file SYSLIC3.TPS must be placed in the same directory as your data files. Use 'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA' as the user name and '111111111' as the password when you first use ResSched. Be sure at least one other System Adminsitrator user id has been set up before deleting the 'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA' id. --------Converting Older Versions --------------------- If you have been using a version of ResSched earlier than 3.0a, you must run CONVOLD.EXE to convert your data before using ResSched Multi-User for the first time. We strongly recommend you follow this order: 1) create a new directory for this version of ResSched on a workstation; 2) install this version of ResSched into the new directory; 3) place a COPY of your existing data files (*.TPS) into the new directory and make a separate secure copy of your existing data files 4) run CONVOLD.EXE and respond to its queries. CONVOLD converts your data files to RESDATA.TPS and modifies SYSLIC3.TPS to reflect your current license status. 5) run the new version of ResSched and confirm that your data has been converted correctly. 7) copy the new files RESDATA.TPS and SYSLIC3.TPS into the your shared ResSched data directory. 8) install the new ResSched on each workstation or on your file server 9) for each installation, set the Working Directory of the ResSched Program Item (in Windows95 terminology, Start In folder of the ResSched Shortcut) to the shared ResSched data directory 10) remove the old version of ResSched. Please note that the new version of ResSched can not access the data of the old version and vice versa. If you follow these steps, once the new data files have placed in the shared data directory users will not be able to use ResSched until they have the new version installed. To convert an older (pre 3.0a) single user version to the new multi-user version. Follow the same steps, except there won't already be a shared data directory. Single user versions from 3.0a on do not need data conversion. ------------- SHARE.EXE or VSHARE.386 ----------------- Windows 3.1 users must have either SHARE as a command in their AUTOEXEC.BAT file before the "win" command or the VSHARE.386 device driver loaded in their SYSTEM.INI file (in your C:\windows directory). Many users will have one or the other already in their system set up. If you get a "File Creation" or sharing violation errors message on opening ResSched, check to see one or the other is present. If both are missing, consult your DOS or Windows documentation for specific instructions on changing your autoexec.bat or system.ini file. The File Creation error also occurs if you do not have SYSLIC3.TPS in your shared data directory.
