******************************* * * * General Information * * * * CMFiler -- Version 6.06 * * * ******************************* INSTALLATION: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In Windows 3.1 or 95, you may install CMFiler by running the file SETUP.EXE in the extracted fileset. This sets up a CMFiler program group and associates the CMFILER.ICO icon with the CMFILER.COM program. In DOS, you may install CMFiler by running the batch file DOSINST.BAT. Or you may simply create the directory CMFILER on the root directory of the hard drive from which you want to run CMFiler, and copy the complete file set. You may then start CMFiler from the DOS prompt by typing \CMFILER\CMFILER or from Windows File Manager or Windows Explorer by double-clicking on the CMFILER.COM file icon. UNINSTALLATION: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Uninstalling CMFiler is simple. Just delete the contents of the CMFILER directory, and delete the Windows program group and any desktop icons you created. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CMFiler SHAREWARE AND REGISTERED EDITIONS: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The shareware edition of CMFiler is functionally equal to the registered edition, except for the following: 1. The shareware edition has a time- and usage-triggered "registration reminder screen", which reminds the evaluator that CMFiler is shareware and must be registered if it is being used beyond the evaluation period. This screen does not force any delay in function, and may be dismissed with a single keystroke. This screen does not signal any loss or degradation of function, as CMFiler IS NOT CRIPPLED OR TIME-LIMITED IN ANY FASHION WHATSOEVER. 2. If the evaluation period has been exceeded, CMFiler offers to print a registration form upon exit. This offer may be answered No with no loss of function, although we at NoVaSoft hope and expect that any person who has used CMFiler through an extended evaluation period will recognize its true worth is many times its registration price. REGISTERING CMFiler: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please refer to the file ORDER.TXT for information on registering CMFiler. Two forms are provided for registration -- one for direct order by cash or check, the other for credit card orders through Public (software) Library, CASH.FRM and CARD.FRM, respectively. These may be printed using CMFiler's print-fiLe command. Alternatively, the keystroke Ctrl-B (for Buy CMFiler) may be used.
