Over the years, these offerings to the water gods built up, until one spring, the well dried up. Many treasure seekers climbed down the well, in the hope of finding riches beyond imagination - but none have ever returned...so you're wading in there with your shotgun and axe. ============================================================================= Information ----------- Single Player : Yup. Other Info ---------- This is my second level - look out for my first, The Flying Tombs of Xep! This file requires the altered Willy the Spider patch (original by Ken Turner) to be used. Run Quake with 'QUAKE -GAME SPIDER +MAP FF' or whatever. The alterations to the Spider are: New sounds, either altered from Quake sounds, or recorded by me. More health for the spider - takes about as much as a Shambler; appropriately for a King. Spider now has a sight.wav file that works (entry in AI.QC). Fires Wizard missiles instead of Hell Knight. Now has an entry in client.qc for an obituary when it kills you. Write to me if you want the QC files. If you want the .MAP file, write to me, including an e-mail address, if, unlike me, you have one. I am addressing the problem at the moment... If you want it back by post, and you live beyond the British coastline, I'll probably print it off for you so you can spend hours of fun typing meaningless crap into a text file. Heeheehee I mean the above -- if you're foreign or colonial, send an e-mail address on pain of developing Typist's Knuckle (like Tennis Elbow, but infinitely more derisible). Remember this as well: it's over forty pages, and I won't be putting stamps on the package, either. There are three new textures in there; go to the 'outside' room, and look at a non-animated sky and another texture - you'll love this one; it looks sooo damn cool! The third is in the final Spider King's chamber. Explanation of British idiom "The Mutt's Nuts" for American readers:- "The Mutt's Nuts" is a less offensive corruption of "The Dog's Bollocks," meaning brilliant or class, can be applied to a person as in "Excellent, mate, you're the Mutt's Nuts", from mutt - dog, nuts - testicles. :-) You can contact me by post at: Tom Cleghorn 18, Ivel Gardens Biggleswade Beds. SG18 0AN UK Version History:- ----------------- v0.9 - 27/2/97 First idea of converting 'Fighting Fantasy' map. "Outside" room textures wouldn't compile for some reason; changed them to floor texture up walls, w/ normal sky texture on top quarter. v1.0 - 3/3/97 Version for playtesters (see above for namechecks). Fixed "outside" room texture problems. Single intermission point which wouldn't point the right way. Added drapes texture in the Spider King's chamber. v1.0a - 9/3/97 Learnt how to use 'mangle' key on intermissions, from Mark Bond's 'The Baaaad Plaice' map - thanx for including the .MAP file!! Fixed while v1.0 was still with the playtesters. v1.1 - 11/3/97 First (& hopefully final) release version. Fixed problem with door visible through wall when open. Fixed problem with Fiend unable to consistently jump river. v2.0 - 21/3/97 Arse. 1.1 wasn't the last - before I got round to releasing 1.1, the playtesters said: "We want more items; and what's the Shalrath got to do with spiders?" Replaced Shalrath with modified Willy the Spider (original patch by Ken Turner). Gave him path_corners to follow. Fixed Spawn facing wrong way near river. Added loads more items. Definitely the LAST version. And first release. Doh. Copyright --------- Authors may use this level as a base for their own levels, if they _reaaaallyy_ want to.
