 DESCRIPTION-

Object shadows are an extremely weak substitute for the
equivalent of Unix file links. The problem is that shadows do
not show up as directory entries. I could make installations a
lot cleaner if I could puts links to the .exe's in packages in
a single \install\exe directory. Base OS all products affected.
Benefits accrue to users and developers alike. Sorry to specify
solution, but this one is needed - really!

        SUPPLEMENTAL TEXT:

Add support for ISO-9660 RockRidge Extensions
in CDFS.IFS. RockRidge Extensions allow long file names and
file links, as well as extended permission information, to exist
on CD-ROM. They are primarily used for Unix operating systems,
but OS/2 should support them (see benefits below). This change
would benefit all OS/2 users, especially those who also use
Unix. It would also encourage ISVs to move away from the
        dreaded 8.3 file name limitations.

        Business Rationale:

        * Increase OS/2's adherence to open standards.
        * Allow OS/2 Server to act as a NFS server for Unix
workstations even when sharing CD-ROM drives. This
increases interoperability of OS/2 with Unix.
        * In the course of time, Get rid of the old 8.3 naming sheme
altogether. OS/2 is a MODERN operating system.
