Problem:  JAM purge doesn't update the last read information.

Affected: JAM bases. Last-read pointers of your users on the BBS
          or local editor can point wrong.

Solution: Do not purge JAM areas.

This problem is not necessarily as serious as Ramon's description makes
it sound.  I regularly use WTRUTIL to purge my JAM bases here and only
an occasional area or two is ever affected (out of hundreds).  I suggest
that you back up some areas, test them one at a time, and decide for
yourself whether to use WTRUTIL to purge JAM bases, especially if you
don't have another utility (e.g., RAMSG) to use.  In my opinion, this is
a minor problem, but of course you should consider Ramon's warning, test
for yourslef, and if you must be absolutely safe use some other utility
if avaiable.
