LA Gopher version 1.0 RELEASE! Introduction ------------ LA Gopher is a 32-bit Gopher client for IBM OS/2 2.11 (2.1 with CSD) and TCP/IP version 1.2.1 or later. IBM currently offers a "free" Gopher client for OS/2, but it is plagued by poor speed to the point of being almost unusable (my appologies to David Singer). LA Gopher is MUCH faster in all regards. LA Gopher is the second in my series of TCP/IP improvement for OS/2, and is similar in presentation and operation to LA Times, my NNTP news reader. Availabilty ----------- LA Gopher is distributed as SHAREWARE, meaning that you can try it out free of charge for 30 days. You only have to pay if you decide that you want to keep it. Please view the help file for information regarding registration and quantity pricing. Single copies of LA Gopher are $25US. If you register LA Times and LA Gopher at the same time, you can get both for $40US and save 20%. LA Gopher is available via anonymous FTP from FTP.CDROM.COM, and is temporarily in the /pub/os2/incoming directory. It's final home will be /pub/os2/2_x/network. If you have comments please direct them to me, particularly if there is a feature you would like to see added to the next release: Steven Gutz gutzs@crl.aecl.ca
