X 1 1/2 X's kite width Wooden Dowel - 1/8in dia. x 3/4's of kite height Elmer's Glue Kite String Clothespins Decorating: Razzle Dazzle Spray Paint Precut sponges shapes Latex Exterior House Paint Plasticoat Paint Crayons Waterproof Markers Tulip Paints Cut tieback paper to the following pattern (size as you wish): ^ / \ After gluing dowel in place, apply glue / \ at point, above dotted line, fold point / ------- \ from dotted line. / | \ / | <--- \------> Center Line: Line of / | \ Elmer's Glue, place dowel / | \ (cut to fit) on glue. / | \ Cut long strip of paper to \ \ | / / cover dowel, glue atop dowel. \ \ | / / \ \ | / / | \ | / / Place spar (cut to fit 1 1/2 x's | \ | / / left to right point width) along | \ | / / interior diagonal lines (1 piece |____________/ for both, bending pc.). Glue to marked diagonal lines. Hold in place with clothespins if working alone. Apply glue to paper outside of the above lines (edge of paper to spar), fold paper over spar, hold with clothespins. Decorating: Spray with desired color(s) of Razzle Dazzle Paint. Do NOT cover completely. The RD bonds to the tieback paper to help other decorating mediums adhere better. Design with any of the above listed materials in designs to your liking. You might want younger shildren to work in crayons only. Plasticoat paint makes very shiny impressions, however, use sparsely as it is a heavy paint. Latex Exterior house paint is excellent for this outdoor object 'd arte. Apply with precut sponge shapes. Or cut sponges to desired shape. Waterproof markers allow for smaller detail work. Tulip paints allow for added depth and dimension in the decoration. Allow to dry. Tails: Cut tieback into 2" x 4 x's the height of the kite. Four pieces required. Paint to match kite with materials above. Dry. Complete by stapling tails to bottom point of kite. Tie string between right and left spar.
