By: Susan Profit Coton a Broder Equivalent Hi. Coton a Broder is a linen or cotton or linen/cotton blend lace thread used in bobbin lace. It is available from Robin & Russ Handweavers, The Lacemaker, and ThreadNeedle Street. FLower thread is substantialy too large, and does not have the strength you will need for the pulled work. You will also need to have that fabric in a frame with exactly even tension, round tambour frames will not work at all as some of the threads will be under tension on the bias. Q-Snap frames do not hold well enough, you will end up tracking down or making a tapestry frame if you do not already have one. The cheapest, and easiest is to buy two yardsticks, and cut them in half. Drill holes at every inch mark, and purchase four carriage bolts with two washers and one wing nut for each. That way you can adjust the frame to the size of your fabric.
