By: VSAUER Although I don't recall whether or not the recycled jars you suggested are strong enough to withstand candlemaking, there are many other options for making candles. If you have access to fairly large, strong sea shells, the wax can be poured into them - very simple, but elegant. Likewise, tiny sea shells can be incorporated into molded candles - and anything from paper cups to milk cartons can be used as a mold. For example, simply tinting wax green and pouring it into inverted cone-shaped paper cups would produce Christmas tree shaped candles. You could either, which could then be decorated as Christmas trees. My personal choice would be to use this technique (either tree-shaped or any other of your choice) to make treasure candles, wherein little charms are interspersed with the wax, along with an amulet containing good wishes or a personal message. (If this sounds of interest and you'd like step-by-step directions for them, just let me know.) There are two wonderful mail order supply companies. Although I don't recall Barker's number off the top of my head, Pourette's is 1-800-888-WICK. Their free catalogues contain virtually everything you could need. I particularly recommend Pourette's loose leaf binder named "The Cauldron". It contains the best collection I've ever seen of fantastic ideas, tips, and techniques for every type of candle for all sorts of occasions.
