By: Marge Parker toilet paper rolls and Kleenex boxes Have you seen the ones covered with tissue paper? It's very cute and simple to do. You cut plastic canvas to fit the shape, then using a thin glue or Mod-Podge matte, cover the plastic canvas with pieces of tissue paper in several layers, using a sponge to press the tissue into the indentations of the plastic canvas ... gives a nice 'textured' effect. The last layer (my girlfriend did about 4-6 layers individually of solid color tissue) is from floral cutouts of paper napkins or thin gift-wrap. She used raffia in matching colors to sew the plastic canvas together. On the inside she cut-to-shape pieces of paper and then used a sealer coat over the whole thing, that resembled china/ceramic finish. This was a very popular thing. I can get more detailed instructions for you if you want, next time I write to her. This was her own method, she came across it by accident while 'pressing' cutouts from gift-wrap with glue onto the outside of baskets two years ago, when we were putting a booklet of craft ideas together. It's copyrighted, but I'm sure she won't mind me passing it on to the net as we have with several other copyrighted things we've created/designed.
