[L]ist Files By Area -------------------- This command will let you browse and tag files for download. You will be prompted for and AREA NUMBER or given the choice to [L]ist the availble AREAS. There can be up to 1764 AREAS in this system. The convention is ###-##. ###-00 is TOPLEVEL. If there are no Sub-Areas under a toplevel area, files will list as soon as you choose that area. If Sub-Areas are contained then you will get a list of Sub-Areas to choose from, then the file listing. You May enter multiple commands i.e "L1" to avoid the prompts. "L 1" will work also. Both conventions will allow you to avoid unecessary prompting. If you are going into Sub-Areas directly, you may use "L1-1". This will give you Sub-Area 1 of top level 1. The first number indicates the Sub-Area and the second number indicates of which main area you are looking into. (This applies only to areas that contain more areas.) After choosing the area to list you will be given a screen with 15 files per screen and a new command prompt. From here you can tag files, search files within that area, change areas, go back to the previous screen, view the contents of an archive, continue listing or quit to the main file menu. [#,#,#-# or ^] Is how you tag files. You may enter any number 1 through 15 Singularly, or enter a few numbers delimited by commas: i.e Tagging files 1 4 6 10 you would enter "1,4,6,10[CR]" To tag a clump of files in a row just use the dash: i.e. Tagging files 9 through 13 you would enter "9-13[CR]" You may also use a combination of both: i.e. Tagging files 1 3 9 through 11 you would enter "1,3,9-11[CR]" ------------------------------------------------------------------ Hitting the UP ARROW key will give you the spacebar tag/untag option. For every file you tag the number by it will stay highlighted, to untag just move your bar on the same number and hit the space bar again. [CR] will get you out of this tag mode. You will then be issued a list of tagged files and asked if these are the files you want. If you choose yes you will be given the option to download right away, edit your tag list, search for a file int that area, change areas, continue listing, or quit back to main file menu. Those options are pretty self- explanitory. [?] Displays this help file. You may [S]top the display, view the [P]revious page, [D]ownload this help file, and use [Enter] to continue listing pages. [!] Turbo Quit. If you need to get back to the BBS fast without backing out with a bunch of "Q" keystrokes and screenpaints, just jhit "!" and you will be back in the BBS. [A]rea This allows you to change file areas in the middle of a listing or after you have tagged some files. You will be prompted for an area number or [L]ist will make a list available to you. Again, you may use multiple commands i.e. "A2" will change your areas and prevent unecessary prompting. If you are going into Sub-Areas directly, you may use "A1-2". This will give you Sub-Area 1 of toplevel 2. The first number indicates the Sub-Area and the second number indicates of which main area you are looking into. (This applies only to areas that contain more areas.) [S]earch While inside a listing, this search option will only search the current area you are in. If you wish to do a GLOBAL search use the [S]earch from the MAIN FILE MENU. At present our search routine only searches by FILENAME. You may enter all or partial filenames and a screen of matches will appear for tagging. NO WILDCARDS! They aren't necessary since you can search with partial names. [X]end Displays extended information on a file. If a file has a check mark by the descritpion, it will also display and extended description of that file [C]ontents This will allow you the view the contents of an archived file. At present you may only see what is in the file. We will upgrade this feature in the near future. [Q]uit Will take you back to the Main File Menu. [P]rev This will allow you to look at the previous 15 files listed. [CR] Continue listing.
