They moved to L.A. a few years ago and have been trying to make it there. They are a great, demented, heavy band. Their lineup? Mike Billington-drums and vox, Magoo-Guitar, Brendon Devitt-guitar, and Hamdi Akar-bass. Phish covered one of their songs @ Pearl St. Nightclub in Northhampton, Mass. in '89 or '90. It's called Funky (Breakdown). ------------------------------ From: rlittle@scripps.edu (Ryan Littlefield) Subject: Re: question about a song title... I do not have a copy of that show yet, but when I get it, I will double check it for that quote. Wait a minute...Reis here, and I can't believe this. I got one of those posters for free at the shows (looking at it now). Why would someone want to sell it for profit, regardless of its status? Bill Graham Presents intended for those to be spread around for free for a reason. I know many people who couldn't even find one at the shows because scavengers took piles of them before everyone got a chance to get a free one! I was lucky enough to be traveling with someone who had an extra poster after the third show that they *gave* me...otherwise I would also be deprived of one. I say trade them for tapes or give them away. You went through no hassles or expenses in attaining them, other than the fact that you gained a few extras that were intended for others who were not faster than you. Maybe I'm flying off the handle, but you may want to reconsider your charge there, buddy! Catch y'all... However, this same person owes me tapes as well, and hasn't responded to my email either. I'm going to take the high road, though, and assume that he hasn't gone off the air, he's just dealing with those little unforeseen circumstances that pop up in everyone's life now and then. Brad, if you're out there, please do something about this situation and quick, even if you just drop people a line to say you'll be back soon, because you don't want to be known as a bad trader! Don't let me down, bud! I know you're out there somewhere! This is a really interesting topic. Im glad that someone brought it up. Id definitely have to agree with some of the ideas that have already been proposed. I'd venture to say though that their musical tastes are much more diverse. I think that they definitely were (and still are) into Parliament-Funkadelic. Just listen to YEM. Its pretty clear from that. They were definitely chilling on the mothership. What about a little Curtis Mayfield in the mix. And I think they probably listened to a lot of jazz and classical.......your opininions are always welcome.... -- "It ain't where you're from it's where you're at" peace nick ------------------------------ ** FOR YOUR REFERENCE ** Requests to be added to or deleted from the Phish mailing list and requests for old digests to be resent (please provide digest #s) must be sent to phish-request@phish.net.
