Conference usage notes.
=======================

Introduction

Conf is a windows program that uses VINES networking protocols to allow up 
to 30 people to engage in an electronic on-line conference.  Each users 
messages will appear in the large window allong with their StreetTalk user 
name.   Users may also particpate in sharing drawing a picture using the 
Board feature.


How to do things.
=================

Connecting with other users.

To connect with another user press the call button.  You can then type in 
the other users StreetTalk name of chose their name from the STDA service 
by pressing the STDA button.  Press the  button to use a list of recently 
called users.  Then press the OK button to commence calling the other 
user.  If the person is not logged in you will see the following message.

If the person is logged in they will get a vines message to run windows 
CONF to talk to you.  Once they run the Conference program you will be 
connected.

To abort the call to the user if they are not answering press the hang up 
button.  After about half a minute CONF will stop calling the other user.
If a user you connect to is already in another conference then you and all 
others in your conference will be joined to the new conference.  If the 
total number of new users exceeds 30 users then I don't know what will 
happen.

Hanging up.

To remove your self from a conference press the hang up button.  Or you 
may press the exit button to leave the CONF program.

Submitting text to the conference.

Type in text in the text to send edit window and press either the ENTER key 
or press on the send button.  You can then type in another message.
Seeing who is in this conference.
To view the users in a conference press the users button.  

Select a user, type some text in the text edit window and then press the 
bleep button to send a user a VINES bleep message.

Copying conference text to the Windows clipboard.

Select the text you want to copy and then press the copy button.

Saving a conference to a DOS file.

Type in a valid file name in the file name edit window and then select the 
Save checkbox.  Each message from then on that is sent to the conference 
will be written to the file.  The file will be opened and then closed for 
each message.  The file name options will be remembered for each 
subsequent session of CONF.

Drawing on the black board.

Press the board button. The following window will appear.  (example 
includes a completed work of art) <not shown in text documentation>


Functions.

Erase   will erase all users black board.
Print   prints the current drawing to the default printer.
Save... save the drawing to a file in Windows bitmap format.
Close   close the black board window.

Use the right mouse button to erase part of a drawing.  Click on the left 
hand side tool bar tools to change the color and size of the brush.  Use 
the left mouse button on the black (white) board to draw things.  After 
each bit of line the line will be sent to other user to appear on their 
black boards.  Hold down the left mouse button draw lines and things.
