Please run the SETUP.EXE file in order to install PC411.  Use of PC411 requires a major credit card.  There is a $15.00 registration fee which provides you with a $15.00 usage credit.  Most searches will cost $0.50.  There is no charge if there is no listing, there are no monthly fees, and no hourly connect time charges.  Please see below for more information.  By copying all of the uncompressed PC411.ZIP files to a floppy you can create a setup disk to install PC411 on another PC or give to your friends.

What is PC411?

PC411 is your online United States phone book.  Instantly look up business and residential telephone numbers and addresses in any phone book in the United States.  All you need is a personal computer and a modem.

With PC411, you can search for a listing in every telephone book in the United States in about one minute!  Or you can find telephone numbers and addresses for hundreds of different names with one "call," saving you hours of time.  PC411 will look for alternate spellings of the first name and residences listed with just their first initial.  So if you are looking for Steve Doe's telephone number, address and zip code, PC411 will get you the information even if he is listed as Stephen Doe, S Doe, or even as Mary & Stephen Doe.  And if PC411 does not find Steve Doe in the city you specified, PC411 will search the surrounding cities for you automatically.

PC411 is a complete source of 411 information:  over 80 million names, telephone numbers, addresses and zip codes for all of the published business and residential phone book listings in the United States.  These listings are available to you electronically 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Use PC411 to update your address book by importing a list of names from your PIM.  PC411 lets you edit, print, save, or use the information in your other applications, making PC411 more practical than using either the phone book or directory assistance.

With PC411, there are no large up-front costs, no monthly fees or minimums, and no hourly connect time charges. PC411 charges by the number of listings retrieved.  If you provide a city when searching for a name, the cost for that query is fixed at $0.50, regardless of how many listings match your request.  If you want to search a state, a region of states or the entire United States, the cost is $0.10 for each listing that matches your request. There is no charge if there is no listing.  Any given query may produce 0, 1, or up to 1,000 listings depending upon how broad you make the query.  There is also a volume discount for connections that contain more than 50 queries.  PC411 bills your credit card for your use of the service.  You are responsible for the toll call to PC411 located in the 310 area code.  Based upon average connection times of under one minute, the cost of using PC411 for one query, including telephone charges, should not exceed the cost of long distance directory assistance--and there is no need to make a second call to get the address and the zip code!


System Requirements:  PC411 for Windows, an IBM 386SX or higher compatible computer, a minimum of 4 MB of RAM, Microsoft Windows 3.1, a hard disk with a minimum of 2 MB of free disk space, and a Hayes compatible modem (PC411 supports speeds up to 14.4 baud).
