The file BW.XSP is a blank design for Cross Stitch Pro for Windows which when loaded into the program will give a greyscale palette. A demo version of this program can be downloaded from the Stitchery & Lace section of the Crafts forum on Compuserve. After loading BW.XSP, you can use the Bitmap Object tool from the toolbar to import a graphics file which has been scanned with a greyscale scanner. To colour the image using DMC colours follow these steps: 1) Double click on the first grey level in the palette. 2) Move the mouse over the resulting DMC chart until the design is coloured correctly. 3) Click the mouse over the colour you want. If no colours change in the design then this palette entry is not used. 4) Repeat from the beginning with each colour in the palette. To make the process shorter, ensure there are a limited number of colours in the original file. Do not use the import function from the file menu as this will only allow shades of grey that appear in the DMC colour chart (only a few !) and you will lose a lot of detail. BW.XSP is provided by the Author of XStitch Pro for Windows ( D. Peters) CIS 100102,1724 and may be distributed freely. A demo of XStitch Pro is available on Compuserve in the Stitchery & Lace section of the Crafts forum, Filename XSPROF.ZIP
