THE DEFAULT PASSWORD FOR KDESKTOP AND KEEPOUT IS INTRUDER. THE 
DEFAULT PASSWORD FOR APPLOCK IS SENTRY. IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY
DESIGNATED A PASSWORD WITH KEEPOUT 2.5 OR APPLOCK 1.0, YOUR OLD
PASSWORDS WILL STILL BE IN EFFECT WHEN YOU INSTALL KDESKTOP 1.2.

RUN KDESKTOP SETUP TO CONFIGURE KEEPOUT, APPLOCK AND KDESKTOP TO 
YOUR LIKING.

INSTALLATION

Important Note:

DELETE ANY PREVIOUS VERSION OF KEEPOUT AND APPLOCK.
THE KDESKTOP INSTALL PROGRAM MODIFIES WIN.INI AND SYSTEM.INI.

Consider making a backup of these files before installing any program
that modifies them. The line RUN=C:\DIR\KEEPOUT.EXE is added to the 
[windows] section of win.ini. The line 'DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VRBTD.386'
is added to the [386Enh] section of system.ini.

Default Installation:
If necessary expand the archive to a temporary directory.
Using the File/Run menu in Program Manager, Select Install.exe from 
your diskette or temp directory. Reboot Windows. Then from the 
KDeskTop icon menu click the 'Help' item for further information.
Read Read1st.txt and KDeskTop.wri.

To manually install KDeskTop:
1. If necessary expand the archive to a temporary directory.
2. Create a directory to locate the following files: KDESKTOP.EXE, 
   KEEPOUT.EXE, APPLOCK.EXE, KDESKTOP.TXT, KDESKTOP.WRI, KPATCH.EXE,
   PATCHINF.TXT, KDESKTOP.DAT and KDESKTOP.HLP.
3. Copy Applock.exe to the \windows directory.  
4. GONG.WAV AND SORRY.WAV can be placed in the Keepout directory or 
   the \windows directory to use the configured sounds.
5. Copy CTL3D.DLL and VRBTD.386 to the windows\system directory.
6. Make a backup copy of system.ini. Then add the line: 
   'DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VRBTD.386'to the [386Enh] section of your
   original system.ini. (Substitute the appropriate path to your 
   windows\system dir as necessary.) 
7. Make a backup copy of win.ini.Then from File Manager drag the 
   Keepout icon to your Program Manager's startup group OR add 
   keepout.exe to the RUN= line in the [windows] section of win.ini. 
   For example, RUN=C:\DIR\KEEPOUT.EXE, where DIR is the specific 
   location of Keepout.
