========================================================= XLSEXE : Instructions Installation: 1. Place disk in disk drive. From Windows Program Manager select File - Run and type A:\ Install. If using drive other than A: type appropriate letter. During installation select the desired directory and Windows group. You may use the default C:\Xlsexe directory or choose another directory. Create a Program: 1. First decide which Excel worksheets (*.xls) you wish to use. Excel 4 files are used directly. For Excel 5 files, first save the file as an Excel 4 file. See Excel 5 documentation for help. This program does not handle charts (*.xlc) or the macros contained in worksheets. 2. Select the Create a Program icon and select Set Up from menu bar. Select Title to enter a name for the program which will then appear on the initial screen. Select Picture to enter a bitmap to display below the title on the initial screen. 3. Select Sheet 1 - 8 to set up different worksheets. First enter a name for the worksheet which will appear on the command button on the initial screen. Select whether or not to enable the cell protection as it was set on the Excel worksheet. If cell protection is enabled, the Data sort command does not function and the Data command will not appear on the worksheet menu. Then enter the file to be used. Double click on the directory and file until the full path and file appear. Select Save to save the information and return. Select Cancel to return without saving. Select Clear to remove the worksheet from the program. 4. The Save command creates command buttons on the initial form with the name of the worksheet. Selecting the command button will run the worksheet. The worksheet created will be exactly like the Excel worksheet from which it came. Formats, Patterns, Formulas, Cell Protection, etc. will be maintained. The worksheet will run with the basic File commands ( Open, Save, Print, etc. ) and the basic Edit commands. The Data sort command will appear if cell protection was not enabled. If in the Excel worksheet, recalculation was set to manual, then the Edit - Recalculate menu item will recalculate the worksheet. 5. After saving all worksheets, select Remove Set Up. Select OK to save all information and remove the Set Up Menu Item. The next time the program runs the command buttons will appear and the Set Up menu item will not. Design the Start Up Form 1.
