May 95 Review No.: 35 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Title: Who's afraid o.the dark? Game: Doom 2 Filename: WAOTD.ZIP Size: 98k Author: Joseph J. Pecoraro e-mail: pecoraro@aol.com Maps: MAP01 Type: normal level Sounds: no Graphics: no Music: no [ Level construction ] ---------------------------------------------- A huge level with large rooms and long hallways. Almost 90% of the map is made invisible, so you will never know where you are. This sucks, because of a few labyrinths in this level. The goal is really simple - run, fire and stay in front of closed doors. Try to find the key first... In addition the whole level is VERY dark and due to its size slow. [ Texture design ] -------------------------------------------------- It's dark, so you will not notice any misaligned textures. But I think it's almost well done. [ Bugs ] ------------------------------------------------------------ No HOMs, Medusa effects or Tutti-Frutties. I didn't see anything. [ Enemies ] --------------------------------------------------------- You will meet a bunch of Arch-Viles in UV, this sucks and is impossible. The author played it in Skill 3 and added a demo LMP, but it's version 1.7 and converting to 1.9 corrupted it, he dies instantly. Many, many enemies of any kind. [ Things ] ---------------------------------------------------------- Too many things at all, this slows the game down like hell. Just imagine some stairs with about 40 lamps on it. Overdone. [ Scoring ] --------------------------------------------------------- 50% Worth downloading ONLY if you like darkness and you really need a new level. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
