  As with everything these days we must protect ourselves and YOU.  The 
  policies under which The Tek Room operates are listed below:

  1.) You are not required to log on under your REAL NAME, however
      you must leave your real name.
  2.) You are REQUIRED to leave ALL information requested of you
      and it must be accurate and truthful.

  The Tek Room maintains STRICT confidentiality of the information you 
  leave.  Your user records are protected from access by other users and 
  are NOT given to anyone for any reason other than a legal directive.

  We do not give out information on you to other users, and we do 
  not make our user lists available to vendors as mailing lists.  
  In short, your personal information is as safe with us as we can 
  possibly make it.

  While we of course cannot guarantee that the security of our system 
  cannot be breached, we can state that it never has been, despite the 
  best efforts of our own operations staff to do so.
  
  When leaving Electronic mail on The Tek Room, our software provides the 
  ability to leave "Private" messages to any other user on our system. 
  Understand that the word "Private" does have some limitations.  ANY 
  message left on The Tek Room can be read by the System Operator, and 
  possibly by some of the Co System Operators as well but it CANNOT be 
  read by the general public, unless of course a malfunction occurs.

  As the System Operator, I have the ability to change the status on 
  messages from Public to Private, Private to Public, delete messages 
  etc., and retain the discretion of changing message status at any time.
  
  The general rule of thumb is: Don't leave messages you would not want 
  other users to see.  Every effort is made to ensure the privacy of 
  your mail, but no guarantee is made.

  Here is how we state the above in legalese:

  Pursuant to the Electronic and Communications Privacy Act of 1986,
  18 USC 2510 et seq, Notice is hereby given that there are no facilities
  provided by this System for sending or receiving private or confidential 
  electronic communications.  All messages shall be deemed to be readily
  accessible to the General Public.  Do NOT use this System for any 
  communications in which the sender intends only the sender and the 
  intended recipient(s) to read.  At the very least, the System operators, 
  do review all messages transmitted herein, and can and will change the
  status of messages based on their own personal discretion.

  NOTICE TO USERS CONCERNING VIRUSES; LIMITATION OF LIABILITY 

  A "virus" is a computer program which is deliberately engineered 
  to corrupt or hinder operation of a computer system. Such 
  malicious programs are occasionally written for unknown purposes.
  The criminal codes of virtually all states specifically prohibit
  the creation or distribution of malicious computer  programs.

  The Tek Room BBS operates as a point for the free exchange of 
  information. Accordingly, program files are posted automatically  
  through the BBS software. The Tek Room BBS will not willfully  
  distribute viruses or other malicious programs, and will report to 
  proper authority users who attempt to do so. Files posted by users 
  are not verified prior to their availability for transfer.  They are
  scanned with current versions of three seperate virus scanning programs,
  but this does not guarantee the absence of a virus in the progam.
  THEREFORE USERS ARE REQUIRED TO PERFORM SUCH ANTI-VIRAL CHECKING OR 
  OTHER VERIFICATION OF FILES PRIOR TO USING THE SAME ON THEIR SYSTEM 
  OR PERMITTING OTHERS TO USE SUCH FILES. If a user of this system
  believes that a file which they obtained through this system is a
  virus or malicious program, a private message to the SYSOP should
  be left as soon as possible. If any program is proven to contain
  malicious code or a virus, it will be deleted from the system.

  In consideration of the use of this system, all USERS ACKNOWLEDGE 
  THAT THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES AS TO MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR 
  A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR OTHER U.C.C. WARRANTY GIVEN AS TO FILES 
  AND USERS ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY TO TAKE SUCH STEPS AS THEY 
  DEEM NECESSARY TO PROTECT THEIR SYSTEMS.
