  Graduated first in his class at the Starfleet Academy.  Is an expert
  on matter transfusion and phaser technology.  Holds many degrees in
  matter transport.

  Also has training as a helmsman serving in that capacity in his first
  year aboard the Enterprise.  Presently he is acting Transporter
  Chief.  He has served on numerous commissions to explore transport
  capability through shields.

  Usually not assigned to away teams due to the fact that he is
  responsible for bringing them back.  Transporter Chief O'Brien is
  reliable, quick, and efficient in dealing with Transport.
