IBM....................LAN Server 2.0 IBM LAN SERVER 2.0 INSTALLATION NOTES: FOR THE INTEL EtherExpress(tm) 16 FAMILY OF NETWORK ADAPTERS ============================================================ This document applies to the EtherExpress(tm) 16, 16TP, 16C, MCA, and MCA/TP. It contains notes for installing the NDIS driver. It does not explain how to configure an EtherExpress board. For instructions about configuring the board, see either the Expert's Guide or the Complete Guide. INTRODUCTION: ------------- Before you begin, you will need the I/O address of the EtherExpress adapter. You can get this information by running SOFTSET on the EtherExpress 16 or the IBM SC program on the EtherExpress MCA. This installation does not use OS/2 Extended Services. OS/2 2.0 AND LAN SERVER 2.0: ---------------------------- 1. Follow the normal LAN Server installation procedure using the LAN Services Installation/Configuration. 2. Select: - Advanced Installation - Install and Configure this Workstation - Configure a component - LAN Adapter and Protocol Support - Copy additional network adapter drivers - Enter the path for the EtherExpress NDIS driver. A:\NDIS - Insert the EtherExpress driver diskette in drive A: 3. After the adapter driver is copied select, "Configure workstation" and configure your workstation to meet your requirements. Refer the IBM documentation for more help. For more information about adapter configuration parameters see the section "Configuring the MAC Driver" in the Adapter Guide to Operation. 4. The installation and configuration will: - Copy the files to the C:\IBMCOM\MACS directory EXP16.OS2 OS/2 driver EXP16.DOS DOs driver EXP16.NIF network interface file (used by configuration utility) PROTOCOL.INI Protocol.ini stub for the the EtherExpress card - The complete Protocol.ini file will be created and put in the C:\IBMCOM directory. 5. Exit the Installation program, but before rebooting the computer, edit the Config.sys file and add the line: DEVICE=C:\IBMCOM\MACS\EXP16.OS2 NOTE: Because of a bug in the IBM Installation/Configuration program, this device driver line will be removed everytime you run the Configuration program. So, everytime you run the Configuration program, you must manually add this line.
