BIBLIOTECH Version 3.2 DEMONSTRATION VERSION Release Notes: ©1991-1993 CGSoft 3/30/93 Improvements and New Features: * Button Help can be toggled on or off from the BIBLIOGRAPHY menu. * The Bibview window has a new Stay on Top feature which keeps this window as the topmost window (even on top of your word processor). This feature can be toggled on or off. * The results of searches are now displayed in a separate BIBVIEW window. For example, if four references fulfill your search criteria, a Bibview Box will popup with these four references (in alphabetical order). You may have multiple Bibview boxes open at once. These Bibview Windows behave the same as the main Bibview window. Bibview windows are limited to approximately 500 references. * Formatted Export (NOT SUPPORTED IN SHAREWARE VERSION) Formatted exportation is now supported.. you can now add italics, bolding, underlining etc. to your exported references (via clipboard only). This is supported only in certain word processors that support Rich Text Format on the clipboard. These include (and have been tested with) Word for Windows, AMI Pro and WordPerfect 5.2 (NOT 5.1!). You must add formatting codes in the export style descriptor in the Edit style dialog box. The following new export codes are now supported: \ backslash italics _ Underscore Underline ! exclamation Bold | Bar Normal text For example, to underline the title and italisize the journal in the default style, use the following: A._T| \J| Y V(I): P You MUST use the | symbol to go back to normal text after using a formatting command! * Multiple Reference Tagging: You can now select multiple references to be exported at once in the BibView Window! Simply choose references as you would choose files in the Windows File Manager. Clicking on individual references selects THAT REFERENCE ONLY! Selecting references with the CONTROL key pressed, adds new references to those selected. Using the SHIFT key selects all references between two references. Also you can select en masse by clicking and dragging down the list. Once selected, you can EXPORT references via the clipboard or to a file. Simply choose EXPORT REFERENCE(s) from the BIBVIEW menu and you'll export all of the references you've chosen to the clipboardl. There is a limit on the number of references you can export at a time this way (approximately 50-70 references). You'll get a warning if you try to do too many at a time. They will be exported in alphabetical order, since that is how they will appear in the listbox. In addition to exporting references in this way, you can select those references you wish to print. Simply select your references in the Bibview window and choose PRINT SELECTED from the Bibview file. * Right Mouse Button Accesses Bibview Menu As an added convenience, you can now access the BIBVIEW window menu by pressing the right mouse button with the cursor anywhere withing the BIBVIEW window. A floating menu will appear and will behave exactly as the standard menu. PRINT SELECTED references now appears on the BIBVIEW menu. WORD PROCESSOR MACROS (Retail Version Only): * Word for Windows Macros Install these macros by loading the file Bibmac.doc. into Word for Windows You will also need the template file Bibmac.dot present in your WFW directory. We suggest copying both of these file to your WFW directory. * AMI PRO macros: The file BIBCONV.SMM on your disk contains the Bibliotech DDE conversion macro. You can assign this to a icon in your word processor (see AMI PRO manual for details). This will convert all footnotes/endnotes which are exported FROM Bibliotech in BIBLIOTECH format to the format chosen on a concurrently running instance of Bibliotech. For example, to convert your references from BIBLIOTECH generic style to New Engl J Med style, simply open a copy of BIBLIOTECH, choose New Engl J Med from the Journal style list box, minimize BiblioTech, and run the BIBCONV macro from AMI PRO. This macro and the DDE conversion has been tested with AMI PRO 3.0. We cannot guarantee compatability with earlier versions of AMI PRO. * WORDPERFECT 5.2 Macros: The file BIBCONV.WCM on your disk contains the BIBLIOTECH DDE Conversion macro for Wordperfect for windows. See your Wordperfect manual for how to assign this macro to a menu item or icon. This macro will convert all footnotes/endnotes which are exported FROM Bibliotech in BIBLIOTECH format to the format chosen on a concurrently running instance of Bibliotech. For example, to convert your references from BIBLIOTECH generic style to New Engl J Med style, simply open a copy of BIBLIOTECH, choose New Engl J Med from the Journal style list box, minimize BiblioTech, and run the BIBCONV macro from WordPerfect. This macro and the DDE conversion has been developed and tested with WordPerfect 5.2. It WILL NOT WORK with Version 5.1 because version 5.1 did not offer the extensive DDE support! Therefore, if you are a Wordperfect user, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you upgrade to 5.2. Technical Support: Please report any problems to CIS # 76656,3107
