Thanks. John Chapman - SysOp TLC / Tele-Leisure Communications - 3 - BACKGROUND I got this idea by looking at other boards, reading and using other freeware, and teaching myself a little about templates in ROBOBoard/FX. ROBOBoard/FX provides an excellent platform to provide classified advertising. Even display advertising, but that's another set-up enhancement (hint, hint). I wrote the following files to make it easier to place and read these ads. SET-UP The contents of the archive are as follows: ADS-SET.ZIP contains... GRAPHICS.ZIP - All files to be placed in the C:\ROBOFX\ENGLISH\GRAPHICS directory. TEMPLATE.ZIP - All files to be placed in the C:\ROBOFX\ENGLISH\TEMPLATE directory. ICONS.ZIP - The classified icon file to be placed in the C:\ROBOFX\FXDRAW\ICONS directory. MENUS.ZIP - All menus to be placed in the C:\ROBOFX\ENGLISH\MENUS directory. README.TXT - This text file. GO.BAT - The batch program to print README.TXT. CALLTHIS.BBS - My BBS ad. After you place these files in the directories as specified, all you really have to do is alter one of your menus to point to the new menus. 1) In my BBS, I have a choice for classified ads on my 'MAIN' menu. You can use any letter or icon that suits you. The user can choose that and then... 2) From there the user goes to the 'CLAS-INT' menu. From there the user can choose to either read or write ads. If he chooses to read, he goes to the 'CLAS-REA' menu. If he chooses to write, he goes to the 'CLAS-WRI' menu. You'll see that the later two of the three menus are practically the same with the exception of where they lead the user. - 4 - From there, the system takes care of itself. All of the classified text files created are put in the C:\ROBOFX\ENGLISH\GRAPHICS directory. You can change where these files go, but I wouldn't try it before you understand how the templates work. To do so, you would have to change every template. Like I mentioned, the classified ads will be text files. As such, they must be maintained. How often is up to you. They grow larger with time. I clean mine about once a month, or when a user requests an ad be removed, whichever comes first. Thanks again! Spread the file around! L8tr!
