ÞÝ M A R K M A I L F E A T U R E S ÞÝ ÞÝ ================================= ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ This is a listing of features available with MarkMail that makeÞÝ ÞÝit one of the Best mail systems available. This door was created toÞÝ ÞÝovercome the shortcomings of other mail systems, it was alsoÞÝ ÞÝdesigned with speed of operation in mind. ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ Offline Configuration Changes ÞÝ ÞÝ ----------------------------- ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ The MarkMail door has been designed with a philosophy ofÞÝ ÞÝautomated online operations and thus almost all of the configurationÞÝ ÞÝitems can be manipulated using an offline reader. The method ofÞÝ ÞÝachieving this is with a message sent to 'MARKMAIL'. The followingÞÝ ÞÝis a list of those commands and examples. ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ADD a Conference ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ You can add a conference offline by sending a message to MarkMailÞÝ ÞÝwith a subject of ADD. You can also update your last message readÞÝ ÞÝpointers with this command. Example: ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ To: MARKMAIL ÞÝ ÞÝ Subject: ADD ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ If the number is a positive number, the number will become yourÞÝ ÞÝnew last message read pointer. If the number is a negitive number,ÞÝ ÞÝthe number will be subtracted from the high message base number andÞÝ ÞÝthat will become your last message read pointer. If the number isÞÝ ÞÝommited, nothing will be done to your last message read pointer. ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ DROP a Conference ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ You can drop a conference offline by sending a message toÞÝ ÞÝMarkMail with a subject of DROP. Example: ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ To: MARKMAIL ÞÝ ÞÝ Subject: DROP ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ This command will NOT affect your last message read pointer. ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ BLTS On/Off ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ You can turn reception of Bulletins On or Off with a message toÞÝ ÞÝMarkMail. Example: ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ To: MARKMAIL ÞÝ ÞÝ Subject: BLTS ON or BLTS OFF ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ Own Messages On/Off ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ You can turn reception of your own (From You) messages On or OffÞÝ ÞÝwith a message to MarkMail. Example: ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ To: MARKMAIL ÞÝ ÞÝ Subject: OWN ON or OWN OFF ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ Deluxe Menu On/Off ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ You can turn reception of the Deluxe Menu On or Off with aÞÝ ÞÝmessage to MarkMail. Example: ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ To: MARKMAIL ÞÝ ÞÝ Subject: DELUXE ON or DELUXE OFF ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ Forcing Non-Echo'ed Messages ÞÝ ÞÝ ---------------------------- ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ Due to the older PCBoard message format the existing mail readersÞÝ ÞÝuse, there is no provision for non-echoed mail in an echoedÞÝ ÞÝconference. MarkMail thus provides a method to enter 'local' mailÞÝ ÞÝinto an echoed conference. Simply preface the subject with 'NE:'ÞÝ ÞÝthis stands for No Echo. MarkMail will remove the NE: from theÞÝ ÞÝsubject field prior to insertion. Example: ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ To: JIM FOUCH ÞÝ ÞÝ Subject: NE:Local Sleepy Messages ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ Pointer File ÞÝ ÞÝ ------------ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ ÞÝ MarkMail places into the BBS_ID.QWK file a pointer file thatÞÝ ÞÝcontains your last message read pointers. If you should lose aÞÝ ÞÝBBS_ID.QWK, you can go back to a previous BBS_ID.QWK and get theÞÝ ÞÝBBS_ID.PNT file, place it into a BBS_ID.REP and upload it intoÞÝ ÞÝMarkMail. Your pointers will now be reset to prior to the lostÞÝ ÞÝBBS_ID.QWK. ÞÝ
