O_TO_S - Opus 1.1x to Simplex 1.0x User Database Converter. ================================================================ One small comment about MicroSoft C, Fortran, and Pascal. A minor bug exists in some versions of the compilers regarding the handle, USER. USER, CON, COM#, and LPT# (PRN is not) are RESERVED words. I could have coded a gimmick, but chose not to waste the time. Most OPUS SysOps name their user file USER.DAT, which conflicts with the internal filespec parser. The parser will not check for the extension DAT, once USER.DAT is given in response to the Opus user file name. If running OTOS from the Opus: c:\opus\user.dat is OK. \opus\user.dat is OK. user0.dat is OK. user.dat is NOT OK. Runtime error F6202 will result with just `user.dat' or `user'... The parser erroniously assumes you are referring to the network reserved keyword. Weird! OTOS will prompt you for the OPUS user database filespec, and the directory you wish to place the SIMPLEX user database into. There is really not much to do but run it. Enjoy! If you're interested in beating the bug, one gimmick is to code a system call to rename user.dat, process it, and rename it back. There are a couple of others....
