*****VERSION 1.30 CMPQwk Reader Readme.txt***** Changes: Version 1.30 fixes all KNOWN bugs that were in version 1.14. If you are upgrading from a previous version, just copy the updated files into your CMPQwk directory. Be sure CMPQwk is NOT running when you do this, or nasty things will happen and you'll curse a lot. If you are installing a completely new copy of the program, unpack the files CQWK130A.ZIP and CQWK130B.ZIP into a temporary directory (anywhere on your hard disk where you have the space). From the Windows Program Manager pick File, Run, and either click browse to locate SETUP.EXE inside the temporary directory, or type the path to the temporary directory and setup (C:\TEMP\SETUP.EXE). When setup loads, it will ask you from where it is installing. Make sure it has the correct directory listed and then click on OK (or press Enter). It will ask you where you'd like to install CMPQwk, so type the path where you'd like it to install (the default is C:\CMPQWK). Setup will copy some files and create a CMPQWK.INI file in your Windows directory. It will also prompt you to add a CMPQWK icon if Program Manager is your shell. Select the group in which to add it and click OK. When it's finished, it will tell you and then you may exit. Delete the files inside the temporary directory. The first time you run the program it will open a sample packet. Browse through the sample packet and when you're through, click on the Options menu and go confirm all of the program's paths and settings (see the help file for detailed instructions about this). The most important settings are QWK, REP, and WORK paths. Everything else can be changed to your taste after you've used the program a bit. *** If you have any comments regarding this release, please feel free to contact the author, Derek Backus, on one of the support sites or via the various means mentioned in this file and the rest of the program's documentation. If you have a question or comment regarding the online documentation, please route that to Todd Henschell on either of the Los Angeles area support BBS systems or via the Internet to Henschel@PATCHBY.SPEEDWAY.NET. Messages to the documentation's author left on other systems may not receive a reply. *** Our upgrade policy from other QWK readers has been vastly simplified. Read UPGRADE.TXT or UPGRADE.WRI (if you like nice fonts) to see how to do it. It's simple and fast. We've extended the offer for upgrades from 30 days to "until further notice." *** If you are a registered user of 1.0 your key number will register 1.30 and all versions up to 2.0 (exclusive). ***** Please note the following: ***** 1) You MUST HAVE WINDOWS 3.1 to run this program. Trying to run it under Windows 3.0 will NOT WORK, so don't try it. 2) This program is not freeware. It is offered to the public as shareware, which means you look at it, and if you like it and want to use it forever and ever, you should pay for it. See the enclosed text & WRI files for details on how to do that. 3) CMPQwk Reader is Copyright 1993 by Derek Backus and all rights are reserved by him. The enclosed documentation and other text support files are Copyright 1993 by Todd Henschell. 4) Please don't route messages to Compuserve through the Internet. 5) See the documentation or help file for ways to get in touch with Derek Backus. Enjoy. Derek Backus Todd Henschell ---------------------end of 1.30 readme.txt------------------------
