RIPnet! File Distribution Network I am proud to announce a new service for RIPnet! Members. The RFDN! is a distribution path for RIP related files. This article is a brief explanation of the RFDN!, how it works, and what you can do to help. The objective of the RFDN! is simple: to provide a timely and secure distribution of RIP-related public domain, shareware software releases and Screens to RIPnet! members. The structure of the RFDN! is arranged according to the REC structure of RIPnet!. 154:154/6 is at the top, as the distribution center for all new releases. Any RIPnet! node wishing to receive the RFDN! will hook into the network with the RFDN! node in their region. If two or more RIPnet! nodes in a net wish to receive the RFDN!, then one node will be the RFDN! Hub for the net, and will receive software from the REC and distribute to the RFDN! nodes in it's net. Software is physically transported through the system via mailers, such as FrontDoor, Binkley, D'Bridge, etc. using the programs Tick & Hatch,or a compatable file forwarder. Any node that wishes to join the RFDN! must run Tick or a compatable program to receive the files. Joining the RFDN! is very simple. Fill out the application and send it either as netmail, or file attached to your RC/REC if they are a RFDN! member or to 154:154/0 or 154:154/6. You will recieve confirmation when your feed is set up. Thank you! William Pommenville Zone Coordinator
