October 11, 1991 Setup for DSI 9624LE+ Modem and Wildcat If you have been lucky enough, as I, to have put enough money together to purchase one of the truly great Digicom Systems Inc. 9624LE+ modems, you may have found some difficulty in getting the thing to work with wildcat when low speed callers attempt to log in so here is what I have found to work. All external switches are left in the factory default or UP settings. My initial init setting with WC2.xN was as follows: 1. Comm port: 2 2. Max seconds to wait for carrier: 30 3. Enter string to reset modem: ATZ 4. Modem startup string #1: AT&F 5. Modem startup string #2: ATV0 S0=0 M1 *F3 *M1 &W ^---^---(please note the symbol) 6. na 7. Reinit after every call: ATZ 8. Modem off-hook: ATH1M0 9. Modem on-hook string: ATH0 10, 11, 12: delays 1,2 & 3: 2500 13. Delay before prelog file: 1500 14. init port at: 38,400 15. Lock DTE: Yes Now comes the fun part, from any comm programs terminal mode type AT*O (letter not number) and you should get the following: MODEL: 9624LEP DTE SPEED = 38400 BPS DTE PARITY = SPACE IDLE MODE E1 K1 L2 M1 Q0 V1 X4 TONE &B0 &C1 &D2 &H1 &L0 &M0 &R2 *A0 *D0 *E9 *F3 *G1 *H0 &M1 *N6 *P0 *Q1 *S1 *T1 *U0 (cont on page 2) PAGE 1 (cont from page 1) S00=002 S04=010 S08=002 S12=050 S16=000 S22=234 S27=072 S01=001 S05=008 S09=000 S13=008 S18=000 S23=023 S02=043 S06=002 S10=003 S14=155 S20=000 S25=000 S03=013 S07=045 S11=000 S15=013 S21=004 S26=000 DTR* DSR* RTS* CTS* DCD_ I have tested this setting as low as 1200 baud (the modem doesn't support 300 baud or less) and have found it to work flawlessly in both the native wildcat mode as well as with both DBridge and Frontdoor acting as frontends for mailers. A few of the features of this modem is that it is available in either internal, external or rack mount, allows for both Synchronous or Asynchronous communications, allows for both send and receive group III FAX and supports V.32bis, v.32, v.42bis and v.42 DSI is offering this modem at a SYSOP discount so look up a dealer in your area or if none can be found you might give me a call.....happy BBSing.
