CimOz2Ad Version 1.0 (22.07.93) Copyright (c) 1993 Mark Herbert -------------------------------------------------------------------- CimOz2Ad is a utility to convert a CompuServe Information Manager version 2.0 address book to an OzCIS version 2.0 format. The CIM address book can be from a version 2.x CIM or from a version 1.x WinCIM. Groups defined in the CIM address book are not transfered. Before creating the new file for the OzCIS address book, the program will check for an existing file with the same name, and if one is found, it will rename that existing file to the same name but with the extension "BAK". Despite this though, please be careful that you enter the output file name correctly, and double check after running the program that you created the file that you wanted. The program has extensive error checking, and useful error messages, but it has no artifitial intelligence and it will do just as it is told! To use the program, copy it to the directory where you installed OzCIS v.2.0, and make that directory your current directory. Determine the full path name of the CIM address book by using the DIR command to find it. The file is named ADDRBOOK.DAT and is in the SUPPORT directory under the directory where you installed CompuServe Information Manager. Supposing that: Oz directory = C:\OZCIS2 CIM top directory = C:\CSERVE then, you would do the following: (from whereever you unpacked the CimOz2Ad ZIP file...) COPY CIMOZ2AD.EXE C:\OZCIS2 C: CD \OZCIS2 CIMOZ2AD C:\CSERVE\SUPPORT\ADDRBOOK.DAT ADDRBOOK.ADR Depending on your computer and the number of entries in your address book, the conversion process will take from 1 to several seconds. If you want to see the new address book entries as they are written to disk, add the "V" option to the command. For example, CIMOZ2AD -V C:\CSERVE\SUPPORT\ADDRBOOK.DAT ADDRBOOK.ADR If you want to see the help text on your screen as you type the command, you can get that without modifying any files by entering, CIMOZ2AD -H A final note about OzCIS's address books: The address book that is loaded when the program starts must be in the directory defined as the Hosts/Forum directory, and must be named ADDRBOOK.ADR. If you want to keep multiple address books, use the "ADR" extension, but give the file a different name, such as, "CIMADDR.ADR". This program is freeware. I have more time checking this program than I would normally do if it were just for me, however, my time is limited and I can't keep fulfilling everyone's wishes. The program has a lot of error checking and should cause no damage, however, I cannot be held responsible for lost data due errors in the program. If someone reports an error, and I can quickly fix it, then I may, if I have the time. This is freeware because I cannot promise support or updates. However, I will do my best, as time permits. Send me a message in the OZCIS section of the IBM Communications forum, or Email. ======================================================================= Mark Herbert CompuServe: 76324,1306 Mueller-BBM GmbH Internet: mrh@guug.de Robert-Koch-Strasse 11 82152 Planegg bei Muenchen Germany
