Fax Information: (This is subject to change, based on Rom Rev. 2.57 ) Some basic information: AT+F0 disables fax mode for sending. If you dial out, the modem will try to establish a data connection. NOTE: This is NOT TRUE for ROM's after 4/1/91 AT+F1 enables fax mode for sending. If you dial out, the modem will try to connect to a fax machine. AT+A0 tells the modem to answer calls as a data modem only. AT+A1 tells it to answer as a fax modem only AT+A2 enables intelligent handshaking. If the call is a data call the modem will establish a data connection. If the call is FAX..... The result codes sent back tell the comm software which one it is. ( CONNECT ???? for data or INCOMING FAX for fax). There is not much time between the FAX result and the next thing that happens. So you better start the FAX program fast. At the beginning of each incoming page the modem will say CONNECT ????/FAX. You wait then for carrier and write the data to disk while carrier is present. If you get another CONNECT ????/FAX do it again. The data will be in modified huffman format (compressed) conforming to CCITT T.4 specs.
